JOB DESCRIPTION

Generic responsibilities

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Assist a range of support with the implementation of the CC portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated
  4. Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards
  5. Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support is being provided, in order to be most effective in supporting the team
  6. Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work
  7. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  8. Ensure proper filing of documents
  9. Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertise

Specific responsibilities 

  • Under the supervision of Emergency Response Coordinator the Emergency Response assistant will contribute to the implementation of NRC cash and in-kind distribution activities as defined by project requirements, technical standards, specifications and other documentation;
  • Participate in Multi-Sector Rapid need assessment in line with the methodology developed for this purpose;
  • Maintain direct contact with beneficiaries as well as with local authority and community leaders;
  • Inform the Emergency Response Coordinator about IDPs movement, new arrivals in the sites);
  • Direct implementation of assessment surveys for beneficiary registration by using kobo collect with smart phone;
  • Ensure transparent and accountable communication with beneficiaries and key stakeholders, with regard to entitlements, documentation required, selection criteria and distribution plans;
  • Participate in the distribution list elaboration;
  • Participate in the distribution by ensuring that all the beneficiary documentation is correctly verified and recorded;
  • Compile, check and submit all distribution documentation necessary to NRC
  • Ensure that all the activities under her/his responsibility are implemented in accordance with NRC guidelines;

  • Strategy and Programme Development: Project Coordinator, Area Manager, Country Director, Head of Programmes
  • Implementation: Emergency Response Team, other core competency teams, local authorities, community leaders and beneficiaries, peer organizations
  • Support Services: Support Services teams (Logistics, finance, HR, Admin).
  • Monitoring: Emergency Response team, M&E team
  • Staff Capacity Building:  Emergency Response Team

Generic professional competencies: 

  • Experience from working as an Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context;
  • Knowledge and experience within a relevant administration, craft or technical field and  ideally a relevant vocational qualification
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts;
  • Previous experience with beneficiary registration process by using kobo collect;
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
  • Fluency in Portuguese;
  • Basic knowledge in English;
  • Have concluded secondary school;
