We are currently seeking to fill a Knowledge and System Management Consultant position in the WFP Innovation Accelerator, based in Munich, Germany.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency fighting hunger. WFP reaches more than 100 million people every day – delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with smallholder farmers, communities, and governments to improve nutrition and build resilience.
The WFP Innovation Accelerator was recognized by Fast Company as one of the Best Workplaces for Innovators 2023 for its work in identifying, nurturing, and scaling disruptive start-ups and innovations to end global hunger. Based in Munich, Germany, the WFP Innovation Accelerator provides WFP employees, entrepreneurs, and start-ups with funding, hands-on support, and access to WFP’s global operations. Through the WFP Innovation Accelerator, WFP is leveraging unprecedented advances in digital innovation – such as mobile technology, artificial intelligence and blockchain – and new business models to transform the way it serves vulnerable communities across the world. In 2023, Accelerator supported innovations that positively impacted the lives of 60.7 million people globally. The Accelerator acts as WFP’s global function for innovation and supports WFP Country offices in developing their own innovation strategies and setting up their own local or regional innovation teams.

Duties and responsibilities:
The incumbent, reporting to the Head of Innovation Network is expected to:
1. Develop and drive forward knowledge management content creation, curation and sharing of knowledge and best practices of the Innovation Accelerator and WFP Innovation network:
- Collate and analyze existing formal and informal information products and streams of content within the WFP Innovation Accelerator and its projects;
- Create information repositories, as applicable, to include best practices and lessons learned related to the set-up and implementation of innovation activities;
- Establish and ensure regular updating of a repository of knowledge products (both WFP’s and external partners’) and coordinate information gathering such as the WFP Innovation Playbook or others that may arise;
- Identify knowledge management bottlenecks, gaps and create processes and innovative activities to resolve these and further streamline and improve the effectiveness of knowledge sharing;
- Define priority audiences, communication channels and platforms for knowledge sharing;
- Manage the engagement with the WFP Innovation Network across WFP global offices to leverage best practice, data collation and information dissemination;
- Provide guidance on project knowledge sharing requirements and information management between the Accelerator, project leads and internal and external stakeholders;
- Contribute and provide content to WFP corporate knowledge repositories or systems;
- Contribute effectively to different working groups related to WFP Innovation’s culture of evaluation and learning, including possibly driving an innovation-wide yearly Lessons learned exercise
- Contribute towards an enabling environment for knowledge production and sharing
2. Manage and drive the betterment of digital systems to enable effective contribution, reporting and open sharing across WFP Innovation
- Drive and manage the WFP Innovation Database back-end and content excellence;
- Continuously drive the iteration and betterment of the database digital system using human centered design and collaboration best practices;
- Plan the expansion roadmap of the Database to evolve it into an all-encompassing knowledge management and sharing platform for Innovation at WFP, while maintaining a focus on a simple to use and agile database
- Diligently edit or oversee the content across the database to safeguard accuracy of content and details;
- Work across teams at the Accelerator and the WFP Innovation Network to ensure a wide uptake of the database and continuous use, willingly work with others to resolve blockers that may hinder usage of the database;
- Work across technical teams and the Database vendor team to improve usability, striving for a best-in-class agile database;
- Act as a focal point for the database, build content to present and sell the database internally and externally;
3. Support the overall WFP Innovation Accelerator operations:
- Provide analysis & content preparation (e.g. presentations, briefs) for corporate priority topics and management meetings;
- Participate and carry out discussions with colleagues in other divisions or external stakeholders on topics related to innovation;
- Support other core processes of the WFP Innovation Accelerator (e.g. workshop facilitation, event hosting, speaking engagements, event management) as required;
- Proactively contribute to a positive and high-performing team culture.
- Support the Head of the WFP Innovation Network, Innovation Accelerator and the Director of Innovation Division with any other activities as required;
Required qualifications and experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree a plus.
Experience: Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible international experience in a humanitarian innovation role, start-up accelerator, innovations in private businesses, or experience coordinating different teams spread globally
Required soft skills/WFP Competencies:
- Experience in knowledge management or communication, experience within a global organization is advantageous.
- Strong conceptual thinking to develop new knowledge management and/or communication activities.
- Understanding of knowledge management principles and capacity to deliver knowledge management and/or organizational learning activities.
- Ability to produce high-quality written materials, including graphically-based PowerPoint presentations as well as text documents.
- Experience using Airtable and willingness to continuously evolve expertise;
- Digitally savvy, embracing new tools and software, proficient in online collaboration tools such as Mural and Trello is a plus;
- Understanding of communications principles; creating and designing digital assets such as social media posts, blogs, graphics, audio podcasts and videos, a plus.
- Able to generate new and original solutions to complex problems and to design new product ideas.
- Able to interact with a broad range of stakeholders and external audiences with maturity and tact.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to write strategy documents, develop business plans, and write and deliver presentations.
- Collaborative spirit, able to partner with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility, humility and diplomacy.
- Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy.

Language Requirements:
- Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is a plus.
