Job Description
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families across the Mount Isa region? We are looking for interested of dedicated professionals to be part of our Trauma/Healing service in Mt Isa. This program will be a key part of our Domestic Family Violence and Sexual Assault Support Service based in Mount Isa. Two full positions are currently available. In these full-time, maximum term positions (through to December 2026) you’ll work within a case management framework providing support to adults and young people who are impacted by sexual violence and seeking assistance from specialist healing workers. The role may include the provision of intake response, therapeutic services in group programs and support to non-offending family and friends.

 

You will make a difference by:

  • Providing holistic case management, delivering support to vulnerable and disadvantaged clients and supporting relationships for favourable client outcomes
  • Ensuring the voices of children and young people are heard
  • Identifying strengths, establishing goals for the program and reviewing client progress towards these goals
  • Promoting skills which increase health, safety and development

You’re an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting families within a child centred, strengths-based framework. Importantly, you have a strong understanding of the impact of trauma on children and their families and you’re keenly aware of the additional impacts and barriers experienced by Indigenous families.

Bringing your best every day, means:

  • Effectively engage with people experiencing complex issues.
  • An ability to manage critical incidents, identify and act upon immediate risks in both outreach and service-based capacities.
  • Experience in liaising with other community service organisations for the development of on-going relationships and referral protocols beneficial to client support.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management and knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families.
  • Strong report writing, analytical and evaluation skills, including data collation and analysis.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or significant experience working in a similar service.
