Responsibilities: 

Under the supervision and guidance of the supervisor, the programme associate supports the respective section (s) by carrying out a range of programme support functions to help develop, implement, and monitor their country programme, ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.

The Programme Associate works in close collaboration with a range of staff in the CO, external partners, and agency counterparts in support of programme design and delivery. S/He provides regular feedback on the status of projects through monitoring milestones and advises on improvements to keep activities on track.

Requirements: 

  • Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in Sanitary, Civil, Environment Engineer, Social Sciences, Public Health, or other relevant technical field to the description of the assignment.
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive work experience in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) related matters.
  • For this position, a bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience. A master’s degree may replace additional two years.
  • Experience in the implementation of tools for participation and development of community projects in WASH.
  • Experience in the implementation and monitoring of WASH actions, including assessments, evidence generation and programme delivery.
  • Experience in coordination of sectoral groups and political dialogue with authorities of WASH.
  • Previous experience effectively working with government and partner organizations in Colombia is an asset.
  • Prior experience in programme support functions is an asset.
  • Experience with work in rural ethnic communities.
  • Experience in the implementation in public political.
  • Knowledge of the territory will be validated.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
