Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the project management of web editorial content, including review and updates to the website.
  • Assist with translation management and review of social media and web content and assets.
  • Help proofread and check social media and digital content for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Occasionally work with the graphic designer as needed to produce visuals and infographics in multiple languages.
  • Support digital and social media editorial planning and processes with relevant colleagues, including the digital marketing team.
  • Assist with scheduling social media content.
  • Help localize and create original content following trends, such as vertical videos.
  • Assist with the monitoring and moderation of social media channels when relevant.
  • Perform other digital communication and content duties as required and agreed upon.

Description of the Assignment/Scope of Work:

  1. Web deliverables

Global web content production on children impacted by humanitarian crises, advocacy priorities and other child rights moments

  • Assist in the project management of web editorial content, including translation management, proofread, review, draft, produce and update web content for accuracy of the global UNICEF French/Spanish/Arabic website.
  • Support digital editorial planning and processes with relevant colleagues with cleaning broken links and archiving old pages, 1 monthly report.
  • Perform other web communication and content duties related to children’s rights, UNICEF’s priorities and campaigns as required and agreed upon.
  1. Social media deliverables

Global social media content production on children impacted by humanitarian crises, advocacy priorities and other child rights moments

  • Work with various Social Media Team leads to review social media packs, including content and assets, upload to UNICEF’s Digital Asset Managament System (Weshare) as needed and schedule content for advocacy priorities, emergencies, child rights and other communication moments.
  • Work with various Social Media Team leads to develop, draft, proofread, localize and schedule, minimum 5 per week social media posts across all channels for UNICEF’s global channels in Arabic, French and Spanish – this includes the production of visuals as needed – including child rights and emergencies.
  • Support in reviewing ads (photography, video, copy) or other social media content as needed including gathering regional content/visuals.
  • Develop and produce 1 social media-first vertical video for the global social media channels in multiple languages. This will include up to two rounds of feedback on the idea. Once production starts, there will be up to three rounds of feedback on the final product. Videos should range in length from 30-90 seconds.
  • Spend maximum two hours a week supporting moderation of content of global social media channels, flagging risks and content/conversations for engagement/amplification.
  • Support quantitative and qualitative analysis of social media content performance, including, inputting into two digital reports and, as required, activation reports.
  • Perform other social media communication and content duties as required and agreed upon including working a few hours on occasional weekends on moderation and content support.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as communications, marketing, journalism, languages or similar.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience developing and executing social media strategies, including creating social media content.
  • Experience managing web content, using CMS, Drupal experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong copy-editing skills.
  • In addition to English, fluency in one or two of the following languages is required: Arabic, French, Spanish. Other UN languages an asset.
  • Ability to translate technical and nuanced information into clear, emotional, and engaging content for broad public audiences.
  • Extensive experience with social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads.
  • Strong creative disposition and understanding of what’s ‘shareable’ online.
  • Experience using social media management, audience and influencer research, productivity, collaboration and project management tools, such as Talkwalker, Hootsuite, Emplify and others.
  • Demonstrated understanding of rights-based messaging that respects the dignity and agency of the children UNICEF supports.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in reporting on quantitative and qualitative social analytics.
  • Project management experience in a multilingual environment is a plus.
  • An organized and agile team player with high attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Comfortable working independently with flexible hours and managing one’s own time and responsibilities.
  • Good understanding of world affairs, current events and development is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of digital marketing and fundraising strategies is a plus.
  • Experience in working for the UN, UNICEF or with International NGOs or global organizations is a plus.
