Responsibilities:
1) Stakeholder Engagement:
- Conduct consultations with key stakeholders, including women’s groups, disability organizations, and representatives of marginalized communities in the Solomon Islands, to gather input on their needs and priorities.
- Facilitate inclusive and participatory workshops to ensure diverse perspectives from the Solomon Islands’ communities are considered in the project design.
2) Needs Assessment:
- Review existing data and conduct additional assessments as necessary to identify GEDSI-related challenges and opportunities within the Solomon Islands’ context.
- Provide a detailed analysis of the findings to inform the project design process, focusing on the unique socio-economic and cultural dynamics of the Solomon Islands.
3) Integration of GEDSI in Project Design:
- Work closely with the project design team to incorporate GEDSI considerations into all aspects of the CRGG design document.
- Ensure that GEDSI principles are integrated into project objectives, activities, outputs, and outcomes, reflecting the specific context of the Solomon Islands.
4) Development of GEDSI Action Plan:
- Develop a GEDSI Action Plan (GAP) as part of the Initial Design Document (IDD), including specific strategies, activities, and indicators to promote gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion
Requirements:
The consultant must meet the following requirements:
- Advanced degree in social sciences, gender studies, disability studies, international development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in GEDSI integration in development projects, preferably in the climate change or environmental sector.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting needs assessments, stakeholder consultations, and capacity-building activities.
- Proven experience in conducting research, surveys, climate and social analysis and developing strategies and action plans.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement and consultation skills.
- Knowledge of the socio-cultural and economic context of the Solomon Islands or similar Pacific Island contexts is an advantage.
- Ability to produce high-quality reports and deliverables in English and proficient in word and Microsoft tools including excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and conduct fieldwork as needed.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages of the Solomon Islands is an advantage.
