Responsibilities:

  • Assists the WeC Coordinator in implementing and following up WeC activities; especially the ones carried out with the ARCS;
  • Contributes to assessing and analyzing the security, socio-economic, cultural and political environment as relevant to the ICRC, and shares information on these subjects with colleagues.
  • Coordinates and ensures a proper implementation of the ARCS project.
  • Interacts and liaises with ARCS Project Manager at HQ level and with ARCS WeC officers in regional offices.
  • Contributes to building the capacity of the national authorities and National Societies.
  • Contributes to the annual planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and monitoring of implementation related to ARCS activities.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with authorities at local level.
  • Reports events and changes within the region that could have an impact on the ICRC’s activities, thereby providing sound elements that help the delegation to set objectives and priorities.
  • Stands in for the WeC coordinator and represents the WeC program in internal and external meetings.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree from a university or technical college.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Professional Experience required

  • At least 3 years overall professional experience
  • 2 years’ work experience in WeC/mine action or a similar field.
  • Academically or professionally proficient in a technical WeC-related subject or pedagogics.
  • Previous experience with the ICRC or other humanitarian agency desired.
  • Knowledge of the ICRC/humanitarian work an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the geographic area assigned.
  • Excellent teaching and presentation skills.
