Responsibilities:

Situation Analysis: Based on the existing country strategy framework, conduct a comprehensive review of the current environmental situation in Tanzania in the context of the triple planetary crisis, including key environmental challenges, trends, and policies. Analyze the implications of Multilateral Environmental Agreements on national priorities and commitments.
Gap Analysis: Identify gaps in the current country strategy, particularly in relation to addressing pressing environmental challenges in the context of the three planetary crisis of Climate Change, Biodiversity loss, and pollution, alongside the mainstreaming of environmental sustainability into national development plans.
Strategy Formulation: Lead the development of a revised country strategy for UNEP in Tanzania, incorporating inputs from stakeholders, best practices, and lessons learned from previous interventions. Ensure alignment with national development priorities, UNEP’s strategic objectives, and international commitments.
