Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader, Policy and Engagement team UN University Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
• Support research and data analysis on specific thematic areas as required.
• Assist in project implementation, in particular relating to the above-mentioned areas.
• Participate in partnerships work and support in building a dialogue with development and donor partners.
• Support the development of new initiatives, partnerships and ways of thinking to pro-mote efficient and effective delivery of programmes, based on research and best global practices.
• Provide coordination support to the team where required, particularly in facilitating and coordinating meetings between government partners, UN agencies, development partners, and the private sector.
• Support the development of knowledge and sharing processes within the country office by documenting lessons learnt, best practices, case studies and stories, process-es and challenges.
• Support other relevant processes and tasks – substantive, coordination, administrative and financial.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
• Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
• Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

• Good organizational skills;

• Experience working in cross-cultural environments is an asset – culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grass-roots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
