Responsibilities:

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Chief Social & Behaviour Change and Gender and Adolescent Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Adolescent Development and Participation (ADAP) Officer will:
• S/he supports the implementation and monitoring of ADAP programming across sectors, and other youth/social engagement activities;
• Work with the team to support on knowledge management and documentation, reports, talking points, presentations, minutes of the meetings and activities;
• Support the team for any internal cross-sectoral collaboration initiative, event, workshop, or meeting that will occur in the organization.
• Contribute to activities that involve capacity building of government and non-government actors and support the program specialists in monitoring of results;
• Support colleagues of the Multi Country Office to mainstream ADAP based on the prioritization of key results within relevant sector(s) such as Child Protection, etc.;
• Supports cross-sectional collaboration and coordination on key programmatic results for ADAP, ensuring coherence, maximization of synergies and efficiency and delivery of results;
• Support the development of culturally youth-based interventions in a holistic approached including gender, mental health, climate change, health nutrition through developing platform for leveraging ICT4D to provide information to the right communities
• Assist in the development, management and promoting community-based youth volunteer participation.
• Work with programme colleagues so that ADAP results are effectively measured, and reported, and assessment, research, evidence generation and evaluation is undertaken and utilized;
• Support the review, assessment, planning, capacity building, and knowledge management on ADAP.
• Perform any other tasks as required by the supervisor and the team
Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
• Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers;
• Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Results/expected outputs
As an active UNICEF team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and highquality support rendered to UNICEF and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including:
• ADAP perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment;
• Successful support to the implementation and monitoring of ADAP programming across sectors and other youth/social engagement activities;
• Cross-sectional collaboration and coordination on key programmatic results for ADAP supported, ensuring coherence, maximization of synergies and efficiency and delivery of results;
• ADAP results with programme colleagues supported and effectively measured, reported, and evidence generation and evaluation is undertaken and utilized;
• Reviews, assessments, planning, capacity building, and knowledge management on ADAP supported;
• A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism during the assignment, such as reporting on activities participated in and capacities developed.

Demonstrated interest and/or experience in aspects of youth development and participation;
• Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
• Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
