Responsibilities:
- Conduct robust quantifications of national oxygen need and production capacities based on various data sources
- Support / lead need projections and need quantifications for various devices part in the respiratory support commodities package
- Use sensitivity analyzes and develop scenarios (to use for planning among national stakeholders for the increase in oxygen availability and services, particularly liquid oxygen
- Develop a strong understanding of national healthcare systems and dynamics, funding mechanism, supply chains, local public and private players, and anticipate new trends that may influence the oxygen access environment
- Analyze market trends and uptake models for new and existing commodities and services
- Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential suppliers in low-middle-income markets by providing market insights and contacts, offering targeted support and guidance to navigate regulatory and procurement processes
- Support the development and evaluation of Request of Proposals for commodities and services in collaboration with CHAI country programs and government partners
- Monitor supplier compliance with contracts, global and domestic funding for product purchase, and product uptake
- At the request of the country teams, participate in and provide technical input during meetings with local stakeholder (e.g., central and local health authorities, health partners, donors)
- Continuously maintain and update a database of cost estimates and market prices for oxygen-related equipment, devices and products
- Collaborate on markets landscaping through market analysis, collating market intelligence, and conducting research for price negotiations
- Support the development of concept notes and new projects, and contribute to proposal development
- Proactively identify gaps in tools & global resources (e.g., quantification and costing tool, financial modeling), and develop such resources with inputs from end-users
- As required, support the CHAI Oxygen program in engaging with innovators to provide guidance on overall market for pneumonia commodities, to ensure that innovations meet market needs and are viable / scalable given market conditions
- Other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Public Health, Business Administration, or any related field
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in a fast paced, results-oriented work environment (e.g., strategy consulting, medical devices or pharmaceuticals), in roles that demonstrates an ability to conduct quantitative analyses (e.g., forecasting), develop compelling business cases, engage decision-makers and work across multiple teams
- Demonstrated ability in managing large projects, project design, and experience in concept note/proposal development
- Excellent analytical (qualitative and quantitative) skills and strong written and oral communication skills including development of analyses/ presentations for varied project audience/stakeholders
- Entrepreneurial mindset: demonstrated ability to operate in an unstructured but demanding multicultural environment independently
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, set priorities, and rapidly absorb/synthesize a broad range of information
- Exceptional diplomatic and interpersonal skills, and ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging, multi-cultural environment
- Ability to collaborate remotely with team members spread across geographies
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- English language fluency, both written and verbal
- Ability to travel approximately ~30% of the time to CHAI Program Countries
Advantageous Experience/Qualifications:
- Significant work experience in Africa or Asia, ideally in the health care sector working to introduce or scale up essential medicines or medical devices
- Demonstrated knowledge of oxygen systems and equipment and biomedical products
