Junior Professional Associates – Program Description

The Junior Professionals Associate Program (JPA) offers an exceptional opportunity for recent graduates to embark on a professional journey, providing a three-year contract with valuable work experience within a diverse and dynamic environment and the potential of field work experience. Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice Global Engagement Unit

The Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice (SPJ GP) delivers analytical and operational approaches and evidence-based solutions to help individuals and families manage risk, cope with chronic/transitional poverty, and access better livelihoods and jobs. The SPJ GP is made up of several global solutions groups (GSGs) delivering technical expertise in key areas and thematic teams addressing critical issues in development. The GP is also home to globally recognized programs delivering analytical, operational, and partnership support around the world.

The Atlas of Social Protection: Indicators of Resilience and Equity (ASPIRE) is the World Bank’s premier compilation of indicators to analyze the scope and performance of SP programs. Developed by the SPJ GP, ASPIRE provides indicators for 140 countries on social assistance, social insurance and labor market programs based on program-level administrative data and national household survey data. ASPIRE is one of two data sources use to monitor Target 1.3. of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) “Implement nationally appropriate social protection systems and measures for all, including floors, and by 2030 achieve substantial coverage of the poor and the vulnerable.”

The Partnership for Economic Inclusion (PEI) is a global partnership helping governments adopt and scale economic inclusion programs to sustainably increase the income, assets, and build resilience of extreme poor and vulnerable people. PEI is a global network that includes national governments, policymakers, development partners, and non-governmental and research organizations. It is hosted by the SPJ GP and receives funding through a Multi-Donor Trust Fund administered by the World Bank.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The primary objectives of this position are to (1) develop and implement a strategic communications approach for ASPIRE that enhances understanding and use of its data and data services, and (2) lead PEI’s knowledge management work program and enhance the effectiveness of knowledge sharing and communications efforts, ensuring the knowledge is systematically captured, curated, and disseminated; in addition to select contributions to innovation and learning. In addition, this role will seek opportunities to enhance overall KM and communications approaches within SPJ GP, particularly for select GSG(s), by scaling up processes, tools, and technology used to achieve its primary objectives.

The JPA will be responsible leading ASPIRE & PEI’s knowledge management and communications agendas; select appropriate tools, approaches, and techniques to create, access, and share knowledge across the programs’ networks, the World Bank, and external stakeholders. More specifically: o Lead the development and execution of external and internal learning events, leading the PEI Open House coordination; core courses; learning forums and other initiatives for staff, clients and/or partners.

• Lead the production of multimedia content including, but not limited to, presentations, infographics, postcards, short-form video etc., for internal and external audiences.

• Develop social media posts (Twitter, LinkedIn) at the start of each month while maintaining branding style, consistent messaging, and an appropriate tone relevant social media strategies.

• Develop and disseminate relevant newsletters. o Contribute to the dissemination and promotion of publications, including PEI’s flagship State of Economic Inclusion 2024 Report, and the State of Social Protection Report 2024.

• Provide training and capacity building to team members on knowledge management tools and practices.

• Develop indicators and tools to measure the effectiveness of knowledge management and communication activities. This includes tracking of website traffic and queries by internal and external users received through the SPJ’s service accounts.

• Assist in the improvement and maintenance of the SPJ GP intranet sites, including content development and update.

• Support select GSG’s work programs, including knowledge generation and sharing activities, corporate briefings and requests, regional/country support on selected issues.

• Support innovation and learning teams, particularly in PEI, to co-author knowledge briefs and publications with other team members and partners on key thematic areas such as women’s economic empowerment and climate resilience.

• Create proposals to scale up select processes, templates, etc. from PEI and ASPIRE that can improve SPJ GSG and thematic team functions along the lines above.

 

 

Selection Criteria

 

A master’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience delivering knowledge management, learning, and/or communications solutions. World Bank Group experience is preferred.

Technical Competencies:

• Fluent in English; excellent written communications capabilities, especially editing messages in a clear, concise, and web-friendly style. Spanish and/or French language proficiency are a plus.
• Proven ability to contribute to and execute communications and dissemination plans. Experience with managing datasets using Microsoft Excel. Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills including:
1.Gathering and compiling data from various sources
2.Organizing and analyzing data
3.Articulating narratives and summaries
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other graphic design software. Basic video editing skills are desired.
• Experience working within the economic development or similar sector.
Behavioral Competencies:
• Self-starter with exceptional attention to detail.
• Demonstrated passion for SPJ GP’s mission to help poor and vulnerable people cope with crises and shocks, find jobs, invest in the health and education of their children, and protect the aging population.
