The post of Programme Assistant at UNICEF Office for the WASH-CEED (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Disaster Risk Reduction) area is part of the current organigram of Country Programme of UNICEF-Brazil to 2024-2028.
The WASH-CEED program seeks to guarantee the rights to water, sanitation, hygiene and safe environment to all children and adolescents in Brazil, with a particular focus on indigenous and traditional people, rural population, schools, and basic health units. The WASH-CEED program also addresses the need for sustainable and climate resilient WASH systems. The Disaster component of the program seeks to address the needs of children and families in humanitarian contexts such as the migration and the Yanomami crisis, or emergencies like heavy rains and floods, severe droughts. It focuses on ensuring access to essential services and programmes in a coordinated manner with the government, the civil society organizations, and other UN agencies.
This position plays an important role in the WASH-CEED area and is responsible for the administrative and financial tasks assuring effective support for programmatic implementation and partnerships, as well as strengthening the implementation’s capacities to monitor, execute and report.
How can you make a difference?
Under the general supervision of the Chief Wash-Ceed, the Programme Assistant will be responsible for executing a broad variety of standardized administrative, financial and programme tasks providing professional assistance and support to: programme development and implementation; monitoring and reporting of results programme; financial programmatic management control, and administrative functions related to all office services.
The performance of these activities aims to contribute to the strengthening the WASH-CEED area of UNICEF in Brasilia. Being aligned with the principles, values and priorities of the organization, these activities will directly contribute to the achievement of UNICEF Country Programme results and Management outcomes.
Into a teamwork environment and based on sensitive and well-defined equity and gender results, this position will provide an on-going assistance on administrative and operational activities in the office and offer appropriated support and collaboration to UNICEF’s counterparties.

Education:
Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university degree in Accountancy, Public Administration, Planning and Management, Public Management, Tendering and Contracts, or other related disciplines.
For this position, a bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience.
Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical work experience is required.
Desired knowledge on financial and programme/project management.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is required.
Fluency in Portuguese is required.
Knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
