JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Planning Manager (forecasting), the position (i) supports the design and execution of global forecasts and rolling demand exercises for a wide range of commodities supporting UNICEF programmes; (ii) facilitates the collection and generation of relevant data and analysis for the supply chain; (iii) ensures that supply chain business intelligence is developed and available, organizational performance indicators are regularly monitored, and supply dashboards and other visibility and monitoring tools are functioning optimally and meeting the needs of the Supply and Programme functions; and (iv) supports projects related to the digitalization of demand planning and forecasting processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Coordination of Forecast Processes, Digitalization Initiatives, and Communication with Stakeholders in Supply, Programme, and Implementing Partners:

  1. Participate in expanding the scope of forecasts obtained from country offices to cover all strategic health, education, and WASH products, with a strong focus on utilizing digitalization initiatives to enhance forecasting accuracy and efficiency.
  2. Support and coordinate the process of the digitalization of strategic and tactical forecasts, assisting in the transition from Excel-based processes to relevant digital platforms, and contribute to change management efforts to ensure integration and smooth adoption by staff at both SD and Country Office levels.
  3. Participate in preparing comprehensive long-term forecasts for a continuous and uninterrupted supply of UNICEF’s essential and strategic supplies.
  4. Regularly update the rolling demand forecasts for current and anticipated emergencies, acting as a liaison between UNICEF SD relevant centers and Country Offices to ensure full support is provided in updating their rolling demand forecast.
  5. Regularly monitor the materialization of rolling demand forecasts and inform the relevant stakeholders.
  6. Engage in, monitor, and contribute to relevant online community platforms and external discussion forums to enhance communication and knowledge sharing around forecasting and demand planning.

2) Models and tools to collect, analyze and visualize supply chain, forecasting, demand planning and results data:

  1. Supports the conceptualization and design of optimized forecasting processes, whether UNICEF exclusive or in collaboration with partners, by actively engaging in meetings, coordinating meeting inputs and outputs, and following up and/or implementing action points.

 

3) Supply relevant business intelligence:

  1. Utilizes data visualization tools, such as Power BI, for trend analysis to enable relevant stakeholders to take action, e.g., react to short- and long-term changes in demand. Graphically presents data and communicates it as appropriate.

 

4) Bridge between business and IT for solutions and applications related to supply chain:

  1. Liaises with both internal and external IT and business colleagues to conceptualize, develop, and roll-out digital based tools for demand planning and forecasting. Actively participates in all processes, including design, user testing, and implementation.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • A completed 1st University degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in business, economics, development, social sciences, statistics, supply chain or relevant field is required.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in public and/or private sector with proficiency in demand planning and forecasting, a good use of data processing, business data analysis and intelligence, systems and process analysis, and/or performance monitoring is required, preferably in areas related to the supply chain and preferably with experience working in the field.

Languages

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
