IDB Invest Portfolio Management Consultant Corporates and SMEs Sector

Location: Argentina, Chile, Paraguay or Uruguay

About this position

You will join the Portfolio Management Division and will work under the direct supervision of the Portfolio Director of Corporates & SMEs and/or a Lead Portfolio Officer. The monitoring will require regular and ad hoc analysis of the counterparts’ financial performance and reviews of the loan documentation to ensure compliance with contracts, covenants etc. You will work with various key tasks, including identifying breaches and proposing solutions to resolve consultantevents, thereby helping ensure the stability and financial health of IDB Invest’s portfolio of outstanding loans and guarantees.

What you’ll do:

  • Help overseeing a portfolio of loan and guarantee transactions primarily with project finance and corporate counterparts.
  • Obtain and analyze information to assess counterparty compliance with financing agreements and to mitigate risk.
  • Conduct financial statement analysis, analyze financial projections, prepare risk rating proposals and periodic supervision reports to assess the credit standing of our counterparts.
  • Assess status/events affecting loans and guarantees and, where necessary, disseminate information/help prepare recommendations for appropriate action and next steps.
  • Be part of a team engaging with borrowers, shareholders, B-lenders and co-lenders as well as agents and internal counterparts.
  • Participate in monitoring meetings.
  • Follow on-going developments in the relevant industry sector(s).
  • Help ensure that counterparts comply with IDB Invest internal risk policies and guidelines liaising closely with the credit risk management, environmental and social, legal and finance departments, among others.
  • Participation in activities that support inclusiveness (mentoring, recruitment, leadership development, on-boarding, etc.).
  • Propose and support actions to improve and streamline internal processes.
  • Contribute to the development and assessment of developmental effectiveness indicators.
  • Collect and disseminate loan/guarantee credit risk information.
  • Provide support to the Portfolio Management Division and the Investment Operations Department in all other tasks required.

What you’ll need :

  • Education: You hold and advanced degree (at least Master’s, MBA, or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Development Studies, or relevant field.
  • Experience:You have at least three (3) years of professional relevant experience in the credit assessment and/or rating of corporate counterparts, gained within a bank, financial institution and/or rating agency.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen, a resident or hold a legal permit to work in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay or Uruguay without the need for sponsorship by the IDB Invest.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration:

  • Type of contract: National Consultant Full-Time.
  • Length of contract: 36 months.
  • Work Location: COF Argentina, COF Chile, COF Paraguay or COF Uruguay.
