JOB SUMMARY

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to

implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for an Information Management Specialist in Kyiv.

Overall purpose of the role:

DRC Ukraine develop a web application designed to manage program data nationwide. The application handles a large and intricate dataset, sourced primarily from approximately 100 KoboToolbox forms automatically stored in a SQL database, along with data

from external APIs. The application comprises various components for updating, transforming, displaying, and analyzing this dataset. It ensures data protection by restricting access to authorized individuals, facilitating activities tracking, analysis, and reporting. The objective for the position is mainly to support the development of this application.

This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to

country operations while overseeing country activities.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Implement the features and user interfaces like dashboards and databases.
  • Architect efficient and reusable front-end systems that drive complex web applications.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve the product on their feedback.
  • Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.
  • Developing scripts to update or migrate existing dataset to ensure consistency.
  • Conduct data analysis and identify pertinent variables, trends, and patterns providing valuable insights for informed decision-making.

About you:

To be successful as an Information Management Specialist we expect you to have 2 years of experience with software

development in one or more programming languages.

Moreover, we expect:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with Typescript, including concepts like generic, asynchronous and functional programming
  • Experience with React, experience with RESTful APIs and optimizing front end performance.
  • Advanced English proficiency
