Org. Setting and Reporting This advertisement is for two (2) Fall/Winter internship located in the Sales and Marketing Section, Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications in New York City. The Outreach Division engages and educates people and their communities worldwide to encourage support for the ideals and activities of the United Nations. The Sales and Marketing Section works to promote United Nations’ knowledge, communication, and outreach objectives by publishing,
selling, distributing, and licensing, print and electronic publications, periodicals and databases that disseminate UN knowledge, studies, and data. The internship is unpaid and full-time and will last 6 months. Interns work up to five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision and support of the Marketing Officer. This internship is available as soon as possible. The intern will assist the Sales and Marketing Section in designing and implementing the overall marketing strategy for United Nations Publications; promoting the UN brand; and driving demand for UN publications. The selected intern may perform some of the following functions: – Assisting with
planning and producing marketing campaigns across different channels and platforms – Providing logistic support for the organization of public events in the UN Bookshop – Drafting, formatting, editing, and posting original web site content/news stories/ social media content, including graphics, photographs, and video – Maintaining databases and compile reports- Conducting research on thematic issues – Assisting with development and implementation of surveys – Providing general office support (processing, drafting, and finalizing correspondence and other communications; setting up and maintaining files/records, organizing meetings, etc.)
Please note that to qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, Applicants
must meet one of the following requirements: -(a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). -(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). -(c) have graduated with a university degree (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Applicants must also: -Be computer literate in standard software applications. -Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. -Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds
and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. No work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and
living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
