PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:

The purpose of this individual consultancy will be to cover the role of the Digital Workplace Specialist while on stretch assignment for 6 months.

This will require supporting PFP staff globally with their work on the Private Sector Intranet (PSI), including liaising with a third-party development agency (Advania) on any technical improvements and support required.

Supported by the Internal Communication Manager, the consultant will provide technical support to PFP staff on the use of UNICEF’s digital tools and how to use them most effectively. This will include the necessary digital support to private sector meetings and events, managing the subscriptions to third-party software such as Mural, Slido and Evenium, coordinating with teams to create collaboration and communication sites, analysing statistics and data of the intranet, and ensuring the PFP Divisional calendar is functioning.

*  Provide digital workplace solutions for events and meetings.

*  Implementing and configuring digital workplace solutions to meet business requirements.

WORK ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW:

*  Meetings and events.

DELIVERABLES:

Deliverable 1: September 2024 (8 days)

* Monitoring and governance of the intranet.

* Support to publishers.

* Coordinate work with Advania.

Deliverable 2: October 2024 (8 days) 

* Support digital workplace efficiencies for PFP staff with technical guidance and innovative solutions.

Deliverable 3: November 2024 (8 days) 

* Strategic support to enhance the homepage of the intranet to increase traffic to the site and engagement.

Deliverable 4: December 2024 (8 days)

* Provide strategic and technical support to all internal communication products.

* Aligning the data and analytics of the Pulse newsletter with the intranet.

Deliverable 5: January 2025 (8 days)

* Manage the use of third-party software such as Slido, Mural, and Evenium providing access and technical support.

Deliverable 6: February 2025 (8 days)

* Monitor and oversee the governance of the PFP Divisional Calendar.

* Support the set-up of meetings and event sites.

* Support the digital workplace requirements for meetings and events.

Duration:

Six months, tentative starting date 1 September 2024 (2 days per week).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

*  A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree or higher) in Communication Sciences, or a related field is required.

Experience:

*  A minimum of five years of work experience in public or internal communication, or intranet management and publishing is required.

*  Solid experience in Office 365 range of products and SharePoint Online Modern is required.

*  Experience with UNICEF private sector and more particularly UNICEF intranet and ECM collaboration sites would be a strong asset.

*  Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

*  Familiarity with the work of UNICEF, UN entities, UNICEF National Committees and/or private sector fundraising would be an asset.

Language:

* Fluency in English is required, with very good writing and editing skills.

Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

The office selects the individual based on best value for money.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables.

UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.  

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage).

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors.

Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract.

Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.

It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
