Comparative analyses of Domestic Resource Mobilization (taxation) in Pacific Countries

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
• Review of existing tax policies and administration in Pacific countries and use of digital technology/automatization.
• Collect revenue/tax statistics and conduct comparative analyses across the Pacific.
• Identify risks, challenges and bottlenecks in tax administration and policy formulation.
• Summarize ADB’s value addition and lessons learned from past programs and projects.
• Provide recommendations on how ADB can further support its Pacific DMCs to strengthen tax policy and administration drawing from best practices.
• Assist in preparing reports and presentations for senior management.

PERIOD OF ASSIGNMENT
• Duration: 10 weeks
• Timing: January 2025 onwards
4. LOCATION
ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines
5. EXPECTED OUTCOMES
• Report outlining the findings and lessons learned.
• Statistics Database on taxation for Pacific DMCs.
• Final Report summarizing tax policies in Pacific and DMC specific recommendations to strengthen DRM
• Presentation materials/conducting a presentation to colleagues and management
Qualifications
6. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Post-graduate program in Economics, Public Policy, or related fields.
• Intern must be enrolled at a school in one of the ADB member countries for the entire duration of the internship.
7.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with Pacific Island economies and development challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Stata, R) is a plus
