It is a home-based assignment which may require a travel to the United Nations Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries Headquarters in Gebze.
Under the supervision of the Managing Director, the incumbent will undertake following tasks, • Research on priority areas and sectors within the mandate of UN TBLDC.
• Preparation of concept notes for internal discussion and sharing with partners. • Preparation of detailed project documents with result-based management. • Support the Managing Director in presenting proposals to potential partners. • Performs consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.
• Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources. • Coordinates policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies, • Generates survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identify problems/issues and prepares conclusions.
• Organizes and prepares written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. • Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
• Initiates and coordinates outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. • Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field is required.
A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project development, project or programme management, administration or related area is required. Experience in the provision of technical assistance and advice to governments in the LDCs on science, technology and innovation is desirable Experience in science, technology and innovation policy, including policy analysis, research and writing, is desirable.
Experience in building partnerships and resource mobilization is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Fluency in French is desirable.
