JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Development of Data Analytical and Visualization Frameworks and Tools:

  • Patriciate in the processes for the development and review of data tools and lead NO Data Analysis, Data Visualization and Data Management systems and frameworks.
  • Support the development, review and adaptation of mobile device applications and tools for data collection and management
  • Conduct rigorous data cleaning and ensure errors or inconsistencies are detected in data to prepare it for analysis.
  • Ensure the acquisition of appropriate Data Analysis and Visualization software in compliance with organizational policies, standards and specifications.
  • Facilitate identification, adaptation and utilization of relevant Data Management and Visualization tools/platforms in accordance with organizational policies or recommendations from Superiors (e.g., KoboToolbox, Google Data Analytics/Google Data Studio, Power BI, DoForms, mWater, Tableau, ArcGIS, etc).
  • Support to manage data entries/uploads, updates, and conduct Data Quality Assessments/Audits on gathered data across all platforms associated with World Vision Ghana.
  • Lead the development of other databases and data management systems as needed by the National Office.

Ensure effective Data Analysis & Visualization for evidence-building, decision-making and communication with all stakeholders:

  • Analyse data using relevant tools such as STATA, R software, SPSS, Advanced Excel, NVivo, to extract meaningful insights and trends through visual representations of data, such as charts, graphs, and dashboards, to communicate findings effectively
  • Using specialized tools and software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, D3.js), create interactive and static visualizations and present data and information in different formats as and when needed to facilitate effective communication with the target audience.

 

  • Produce accompanying user guidance for detailed, high-quality data visualization outputs (digital and hardcopy) per organizational standards and specific donor requirements.
  • Perform data mining tasks and identify major trends for predictive or forecasting purposes.
  • Contribute to the compilation of reports for internal and external stakeholders/Partners (Support Offices, Donors, World Vision Ghana Board, Senior Leadership Team etc.)
  • Support the capturing of lessons learned and best practices, ensuring standardized methodologies and alignment with World Vision Knowledge Management systems and processes
  • Support Grant and Project-Non-Sponsorship (PNS) acquisition and management in the NO with relevant data and information.

Manage GIS Systems and ensure applications of GIS for evidence building and CWB reporting:

  • Support the setup of all GIS platforms.
  • Support to implement GIS data collection for all sectors relating to global schema; assist with all Area Programmes, Grant and PNS Projects on data collection, review and entry in the Horizon GIS Field monitoring system and any other mobile monitoring system used.
  • Provide quality control concerning data capture (data conversion), the evaluation of data acquired from outside of the National Office (data standard) and geospatial database development.
  • Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including public domain, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps
  • Carry out data analysis using tools World Vision Partnership licensed GIS applications especially ArcGIS Applications (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online), Horizon GIS and other relevant GIS tools and produce GIS outputs that will be used to inform programming decisions.
  • Produce detailed, high-quality cartographic products (digital and hardcopy) and accompanying reports per technical guidelines and needs
  • Facilitate effective use of GIS tools to support monitoring and CWB reporting
  • Utilize GIS and mobile monitoring techniques to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location.

Technical Support and Capacity Building:

  • Recommending and, where appropriate, developing Data Analytics and Management related training programmes.
  • Build the capacity of NO/Field Staff in the usage of Data Management and Visualization including GIS tools and systems.
  • Prepare and contribute to the development of presentations (including PowerPoint Presentations) for engagement with stakeholders.
  • Lead in analysing data-related workflows and the assigning or scheduling of work to meet priorities and goals.
  • Serve as the NO Contact Person on Data Management & Visualization and GIS matters.
  • Provide support to WV partners (including communities and Government institutions) on issues relating to Data analytics, data management and GIS.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaboration: Work with different departments and teams to understand their data needs and provide solutions.
  • Reporting: Generating reports and presentations to share insights for engagements with management and other stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in data management and visualization to improve processes and tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Identifying and address data-related issues and challenges proactively.
  • Contribute to other key Programme Effectiveness deliverables including Strategy Development; Area programme designs/Assessments; Monitoring and Evaluation processes; Partnering; External Engagements; Risk Management; and Faith and Development deliverables.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or

Certification

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Minimum Qualification required: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Sciences, Statistics, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology (IT), Geographic Information Systems, Economics, Development Studies or related fields with subjects/courses of study in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics and GIS
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Post-Graduate certification in Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, and GIS is an advantage.

Required Professional Experience

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Data Analytics positions or related fields.
  • Strong data processing, analysis, management and visualization skills
  • Strong/advanced knowledge, skills and experience in using data analysis and visualisation software and tools, such as STATA, R, Python, Advanced SPSS and Excel, KoboToolbox, Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Analytics/Google Data Studio, etc.
  • Experience with translating complex technical concepts and simplifying information for mass consumption and usage to a broad international audience.
  • Experience with translating data into information and analysis that communicates an easily understood concept or message.
  • Experience working in a large international organization including in data analysis and visualization roles and communicating cross-culturally.
  • Membership of a professional association or body, or willingness to join within 1 year.

  • English (required)
  • Proficiency in other international and local languages is an added advantage.

Required travel and/or work environment accommodations

  • The position is office-based with frequent travel to the field
  • The position requires the ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (where necessary) up to 20% of the time.
  • The position requires the ability and willingness to on-call services up to 10% of the time

Position’s physical requirements

The position is based in the World Vision Ghana’s Head Office, Accra.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong interpersonal and working relationships in a dispersed national/international context.
  • Strong writing and communication skills as well as demonstrated success working with and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Solid know-how in sponsorship programs, standards and requirements is highly desired
  • Familiarity with humanitarian quality assurance mechanisms including Sphere, Red Cross Code of Conduct, Humanitarian Accountability Partnership, Do No Harm, and People in Aid Code of Good Practice.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and donors
  • Strong interpersonal and human relational skills
  • Good negotiation and convincing skills
