JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Coordinator for Climate Action at UNEP ROWA, the International Consultant will carry-out, inter alia, the following duties and responsibilities: 1- Assess Climate Change Impacts on Health sector in Iraq -Conduct stakeholder training and consultations on climate change and health. -Conduct online key informant interviews. -Collect climate change and health related data.
– Prepare report on climate change vulnerability assessment to project how climate change is affecting health sector 2- Propose adaptation options and priority actions -Identify adaptation options based on stakeholder consultation -Draft the report vulnerability of health sector to climate change -circulate for peer review and comments. -Present final findings in an online meeting and update report based on revisions.
Qualifications/special skills
Postgraduate degree in climate change, health, public policy or another relevant subject is required Minimum 5 years’ experience in climate change, adaptation, vulnerability, environment, health, public policy, international development, or similar field is required. Understanding and knowledge of UNFCCC related processes, including institutional frameworks for multi-sectoral coordination of integrated approaches for development is desirable. Familiarity with the Iraqi and regional climate change context is desirable. Ability to conduct research and work independently is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English is required, proficiency in Arabic is desirable.
