This position will be hired at the Immunobiology, Nutrition and Toxicology Laboratory (INTL) under Nutrition Research Division, icddr,b. The Laboratory conducts research and also provides research support to researchers and collaborators within and outside icddr,b.

The Senior Research Officer will report to the Head of the Lab and will be responsible for conducting scientific research relevant to the Lab’s ongoing research activities; provide technical support for development of successful proposals; implementing protocols for the Lab; coaching junior researchers to attain project objectives of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values. S/he will be involved in following activities –

• Perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests in the areas of wet chemistry, immunology, clinical chemistry, and hematology as assigned.
• Evaluate performance of instrument by monitoring quality control parameters, and implementing corrective actions as needed to address deviations; calibrating instruments according to manufacturer specifications to ensure data accuracy and instrument reliability.
• Maintain analytical instruments and equipment in proper working condition by performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting malfunctions in instruments.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for instrument use e.g. ICP-MS, MWD, Cobas Pro, Cobas e601;
• Prepare report from the results and share with supervisor;
• Optimize or set-up new laboratory methods based on study requirement;
• Train new team members and Lab technician on common Lab assignments (sample receipt, processing and storage following standard practice);
• Oversee tests done by new team members;

Required qualifications and experience:

• Masters or Bachelor Degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Microbiology from any reputed University.;
• At least 5 years experience in the relevant field. Candidates working with Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and sample preparation with Microwave Digestion (MWD) System and in operating, calibrating and troubleshooting of chemistry and immunochemistry analyzers (e.g. Cobas Pro, Cobas e601) will get preference;

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 6 monthswith a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• 75,780/-per month(consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
