About this position:

 

We are seeking a consultant to support the development of the adaptive social protection agenda at the regional level. In this role, you will assist in drafting and reviewing technical notes and publications of the Bank, monitor the progress of the operational and knowledge agenda at the regional level, and support the organization of events and missions related to the adaptive social protection agenda.

You will work with the Social Protection and Health Division (SPH), which is part of the Social Department. The division is responsible for preparing and overseeing IDB operations in borrowing member countries in the areas of social protection, health, and nutrition.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the drafting and review of technical notes and Bank publications on adaptive social protection, including publications on the maturity level of adaptive social protection systems, best practices in climate change adaptation of social services (for the elderly, children, and persons with disabilities), social protection programs to support environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods in rural areas, among others. Support in drafting and reviewing technical notes and publications will include: i) statistical and quantitative analysis, ii) reviews and systematizations of regional and international best practices, iii) interviews with key stakeholders
  • Support the monitoring of the operational and knowledge agenda at the regional level, with a special focus on countries with active or in-preparation portfolios on adaptive social protection issues, including drafting terms of reference, concept notes, presentations, supporting the review of consultancy reports, tracking achievements and lessons learned from Bank operations, participating in meetings with government counterparts, and meetings with Bank technical teams as part of the “green social team” driving the climate change adaptation agenda in the social sector.
  • Support the organization of events and missions, including preparing agendas, generating talking points, providing logistical support, and more.

What you’ll need:

  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in the Social Sciences, Economic Development, Health, Social Protection, or other related fields.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in analytical work and project management in social issues, preferably social protection and climate change. At least 2 publications (article, technical note, policy brief, or similar) on topics related to the consultancy.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English oral and written. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.

 

 

Type of contract and duration:

  • Type of contract: Full Time International Consultant (CNS) or National Consultant
  • Length of contract: 12 months.
  • Work location: On site.
