The Opportunity
The Officer-Communication at Start Fund Bangladesh will be responsible for developing, disseminating, managing content effectively, lead the visibility and branding, maintaining adequate proficiency and communicate with stakeholders, partners, and the general public. They will collaborate with various internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent messaging and brand adherence across various channels. The role will be responsible for edit and format photos and videos for digital media, adhering to Start Network guidelines using Canva or Adobe products, including but not limited to Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects. The role will involve content creation, social media platform management, and operational support to enhance Start Fund Bangladesh and Start Network’s visibility and impact. This role requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills. They will be a great writer, editor with good attention to detail, and an eye for design.
Start Fund Bangladesh (SFB) is a civil society managed rapid emergency response pooled funding mechanism. It releases funding within 72 hours of a crisis alert, and it is accessible to local, national, and international member NGOs operating in Bangladesh to respond early to under the radar emergencies. The Programme has evolved since its inception in 2017 and currently implementing other programs i.e., Disaster Risk Financing and Organizational System Strengthening.
Start Fund Bangladesh is a Start Network managed program, hosted by Save the Children Bangladesh. This incumbent is responsible for compliance and due diligence related issues while communicating with external stakeholders. The Officer-Communications will report to Senior Officer – MIS, Start Fund Bangladesh and will work closely with the Start Fund Bangladesh team as well as Start Network Communications and Digital team to ensure success of both digital and traditional communications.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a communications function within a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva etc.) and multimedia editing tools for content creation and production.
• Ability to handle and manage social media accounts and digital platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication as well as editorial skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent prioritisation and time-management skills and an ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines while delivering quality output
• Collaborative spirit to work with various teams both internal and external to deliver excellent output
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, mass communication and journalism, social science or a related field. Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
