TITLE: Senior Education Officer (subject to donor funding) TEAM/PROGRAMME: Operations LOCATION: Alexandria GRADE: (NAT/G3) CONTRACT LENGTH: Until end of September 2025 CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The position will work to support, expand, and promote Save the Children’s Education programming in Alexandria, and partly working with other projects that have education interventions in other Governorates. As a Senior education officer, he/she will work as a resource person in Education.
The position will also be responsible for initiating and maintaining positive relations with community learning schools of the refugees communities at the local level and building their capacity.
The position will be responsible for the adaptation and contextualization of SCI Common Approaches and solutions in education especially Literacy Boost, Numeracy Boost, Enabling Teachers, leadership/MHPSS programs, and Catch-up Classes (CUC) model. He/she will work closely with Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning staff to generate and use evidence and to produce quality reports.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Field Travel: The Senior education officer is expected to spend at least 70% of his/ her time in the field in Alexandria with potential visits to Cairo and Minya Governorates.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Program Development, Design, and Implementation
· Work closely with the Technical Advisor (TA), relevant program staff to plan, develop, and implement education programs and activities.
· Develop detailed work plans, budgets, and timelines for education projects.
· Oversee and lead the implementation of the activities related to education activities.
· Ensure that expenditures are within budgetary limits and comply with donor requirements.
· Ensure that all education programs are inclusive, gender-sensitive, and accommodate children with disabilities
· Work closely with other sectors staff to plan, develop, and implement integrated interventions and activities for the benefit of children and care givers
Capacity Building and Learning – Complete available learning and Development (L&D) courses and actively engage in learning and development opportunities offered by SCI and partners in basic education.
Monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning – Ensure that lessons learnt from the Education interventions are documented, shared, and capitalized both internally and externally.
Safe programming – Support in the mainstreaming of Save the Children’s safeguarding policy within Basic Education programs Work closely with the Safeguarding focal point to ensure risk assessments are adequately and timely conducted for all events.
External relationships – Establish and maintain partnerships with government and community education stakeholders at the local level as needed.
Reporting: – Prepare comprehensive reports on program activities, progress, challenges, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
General: – Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to safeguarding, code of conduct, safety and security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and

QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in education. A master’s degree is preferred.
· 5-7 years of experience in education program management, with a focus on working with vulnerable or marginalized populations.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
· Excellent knowledge of global and local Basic Education trends and programming and the current initiatives in Egypt.
· Previous experience with refugees communities is preferable.
· Strong knowledge of inclusive education practices, child protection, and gender-sensitive programming.
· Solid understanding of the barriers to children enrolment and attendance; especially for marginalized groups.
· Solid understanding of the development goals for children in early grades including social and emotional learning goals.
· Solid knowledge and skills in using and explain effective teaching and learning strategies.
· Solid knowledge and skills in developing quality multi-form professional development for educators.
· Proven experience in capacity building, including training and mentoring education staff.
· Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, planning, and reporting.
· Awareness of the current education reform efforts in Egypt; its requirements and challenges.
· Awareness of the key policies and regulations that govern education in the Egyptian context.
· Ability to develop practical integration mechanism to ensure collaboration with other thematic staff for the benefit of children.
· Experience in delivering quality training to educators.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills in Arabic is required. English is preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Very good presentation skills.
