Background/IRC Summary:

The External Relations (ER) department has been created in February 2020 and is comprised of three main but complementary functional areas: Private fundraising, Communications and Advocacy. The ER department is at the beginning stages of creating a new radical and ambitious strategy that will enhance IRC’s ability to ‘punch above its weight’ in private income, advocacy and brand awareness. The main objective of the department is to enable this organization of more than 18,000 staff to have the resources needed to continue serving more than 34.5 million people worldwide in places affected by war and disaster, shape the humanitarian sector by influencing key policies and reforms and build and grow IRC’s reputation.

The Director of Global analytics will shape the strategy of global analytics for the ER department, bring our data analytics capabilities and reporting structures into the 21st century and be a critical thought partner to the Sr. Director of Business Operations and Analytics, the ER SVP and VPs how to optimize our strategy and investments based on data-driven decision making.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Senior Director of Global Analytics will be accountable for a wide range of responsibilities, including: developing and implementing the global analytics strategy for the External Relations; developing and managing the workflow of the ER data model, translating a variety of data and information into strategic and actionable insights and solutions; persuade and influence ER leaders on these solutions; as well as lead and manage a team of 13 analytics resources.

The position requires a demonstrated ability to manage a diverse set of requests, quickly mediate between competing priorities, and work effectively with colleagues both within and across reporting relationships and departments, including Finance, IT and the President Office. This is a fast-paced role which requires strong strategic and analytical thinking, excellent interpersonal skills, personal initiative and drive and the ability to work well in a distributed, multicultural and dynamic environment.

Major Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the strategy and roadmap of global analytics for the External Relations department

• Be accountable for the development of global opportunities analysis and provides ER leadership with critical insights into growth opportunities at market level in donor value and volume and into opportunities for greater supporter engagement throughout all ER touchpoints

• Establish critical data infrastructure to drive efficient, secure, and scalable data solutions and collaborate closely with IT and ER teams to create and deliver on an integrated data governance strategy

• Develop and oversee the global External Relations metrics and dashboard system (including PowerBi) and the reporting process and conduct strategic analysis as required.

• Effectively presents findings from key reports and KPIs by “bringing a story to life” and providing strategical and actionable insights to ER department leaders such as the Sr. Director of Business Operations & Analytics, the ER SVP and VPs

• Closely collaborate with the Financial Management and Planning team in the forecasting process across all markets by providing data analysis and technical recommendations

• Lead and support a team of 13 analytics resources (of which 4 are direct reports) affiliated to different ER departments, by sharing technical knowledge, ensuring best practices are used across all departments, providing coaching and professional development

• Partner with our IT team to ensure our CRM and Digital platforms meet the department needs in terms of data and reporting / visualization tools

• Continuously improve and update analytical and benchmarking tools and processes aimed at increasing international transparency and quality decision making. Stay up to date with the latest analytical and predictable tools.

• Manage IRC’s participation in peer review / benchmarking groups such as the IFL Forum and establish strong relationships with counterparts in other INGO’s to share experiences and collaborate in areas of joint interest.

Job Requirements:

Work / Educational Experience:

• Extensive demonstrable experience in high performing global analytics environments, with at least part of this experience focused on marketing – including analytics on digital channels and experience in building segmentation models

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

• A strategic thinker who understands the importance of having robust measurement metrics and has the ability to effectively translate statistical / data-driven findings into strategic insights and solutions for audiences of varying knowledge levels

• Skilled in analyzing data, working with CRM software, Digital platforms, SQL, data warehousing products, workflow orchestration tools and PowerBI and building analytics dashboard and models used by different stakeholders

• Experience overseeing integrated data systems, including databases, data warehouses / or lakes, data pipelines, and other data entities; knowledgeable about the modern data stack

• Deep understanding of data governance practices and concepts (e.g, metadata management, data standardization)

• Good understanding of the latest trends in customer analytics, marketing technology, data platforms, and their integration with the IT environment

• Practical mindset to use the most effective and time efficient data-driven solutions to answer complicated business questions

• High degree of initiative, integrity and curiosity for understanding patterns and behaviors through the use of data

• Ability to work productively with stakeholders at multiple levels in a highly collaborative manner

• Capability to handle and make progress against multiple simultaneous demands in short time frames, and to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic context with shifting priorities

• Understanding of financial data and metrics

• Proven track record of being a self-starter and team player

• Fluent oral and written English communication skills

Preferred experience & skills:

• Strong understanding of the global fundraising marketplace

• Solid experience in marketing analytics

Working Environment:

• Standard office working environment

• Some international travel (~10-20%)

• This role may require working remotely full or part time and part time remote employees may be required to share workspace.

Compensation:

Posted pay ranges apply to US and UK-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
