How can you make a difference?

Objective:

The overall objective is to bring on-board a qualified individual to facilitate and expedite the process by which UNICEF ECO’s different sections can request graphic design services. A creative graphic designer is needed to be available at short notice to produce graphic design packages following UNICEF publications and style-book guidelines.

Methodology:

Major duties and responsibilities:

-Provide a creative concept containing creative ideas, as well as advice on how the design concept best serves the content and type of material being produced.

-Provide realistic production deadline that can be followed from concept to final product development.

-Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, web-based and design and layout of reports and other products.

-Create layout and design of reports and other communication materials for printing and electronic distribution.

-Create different illustrative materials such as animation, presentations and design of packaging.

-Produce final version ready to be formatted and uploaded for multiple platforms including print, website and social media.

The consultant will be expected to report on the creative graphic design materials produced as per UNICEF instructions and when they occur. The report will cover a number of graphic design materials produced according to given timelines, editorial standards and recommendations to the UNICEF communication team on future documents.

PAYMENT
Well-designed layout and visual imagery and use of images best reflects the publication. Number of estimated days and timeline to be confirmed as and when needed by different sections.

 

100% upon completion of each assignment after receiving the actual invoice from the vendor.
Provision of a final package of the material produced (e.g. print files, open source projects…etc.)

Liaise with Egypt Advocacy and Communications Section regarding any visual design work, starting from the idea phase to the execution phase.

Conditions of work:

Work will be remotely for the whole assignment.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

At least a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and/or a portfolio demonstrating experience.

Demonstrated ability to produce high quality, creative communication materials.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the following areas and other digital platform related materials: Graphic design and graphic design software, including but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After effect, Final Cut Pro, Flash, Adobe Creative Suite, MailChimp, Canva, etc.

Excellent design and communication skills and demonstrated record of high-quality publications on children’s issues.

Ability to work independently and to meet tight deadlines to deliver products on time.

Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
