Summary of Position:

Under the direct supervision of the Burundi EpiC project Director, as member of the EpiC Global Health Security (GHS) and Mpox program team, provides programmatic support and specific expertise for program implementation in Burundi.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the implementation of the GHS program including the Mpox scope, and ensure on-going program management, monitoring, and reporting on Burundi program.
  • Respond to GHS including Mpox, financial, administrative and logistics needs and requirements generated from senior management and donors for Burundi and acts as primary point of contact for the program.
  • Coordinate the provision of technical and management support to the GHS/Mpox project in Burundi.
  • Supports the development and implementation of technical assistance and quality improvement interventions in line with joint external evaluation (JEE) reports, country national action plans and other assessment reports as needed.
  • Supports the development of country-specific workplans and budgets for diagnostic network activities aligned with JEE and local stakeholder improvement goals.
  • Will be required to coordinate and work with a diverse group of organizations, such as; the Ministry of Health and Agriculture, several international and national development partner organizations, and the donor.
  • Is responsible for developing the program weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and other required reports as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired knowledge, skills, and attributes:

  • Process; monitoring program progress as well as financial expenditures and deliverables.
  • Provide input into the development and maintenance of the program management systems and tools.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reports and other relevant documents for field programs, e.g., quarterly implementing agency and country office program implementation and financial reports.
  • Contribute to the annual work planning and budgeting processes,
  • Ensure application of FHI360 policies and procedures to programs.
  • Provide leadership and team building at the task level; serves at team lead and mentors’ other lower -level personnel

Minimum Requirements

  • MS/MA in public health or related field, and at least 3 years relevant experience with international development programs and field experience.
  • Master’s degree or its equivalent and at least 6 years of relevant experience managing data collection and technical assistance experience.
  • Past experience managing US Funded awards and leading a project team is required.
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, fluent in host country language as appropriate.
  • Prior work in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
  • Routine coordination with FHI360 employees and consultants, on-site and in the field and resolve problem situations with tact.
  • Represent, as assigned, FHI360 and EpiC project in different interaction with other stakeholders.
  • Interact with country office, regional, and HQ GHS staff.
  • Proficient in English preferred

  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.

Technology to be Used:

  • Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

Travel Requirements:

  • 10% – 25%
