UNICEF CO Croatia is a selffunded Office, highly dependant on donations by individual donors and corporate partners, with an extensive fundraising strategy and activities, supported by communication activities. Therefore, communication activities related to fundraising activities and support to corporate partnerships are in high demand and increasing, with the aim to influence existing and prospective partners. Additionally, the scope and number of events and campaigns, such as endofyear campaign or emergency campaigns is increasing with the combining nature of offline and online events.

The Communication Associate (m/will perform daily support in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of communication and public advocacy strategy to promote childrens rights and facilitate fundraising in coordination with other members of the team and under general supervision of the Communication and Advocacy specialist.

Scope of Work/Objectives:

To support implementation of activities defined in the Communications Plan, the individual contractor is expected to:

  • Assist in developing and implementing Annual Communication Work Plan
  • Contribute to strategies for engagement and development of communication products to enhance UNICEF’s visibility and influence with existing and prospective partners
  • Prepare communication materials for offline and online platforms, including web and social media content
  • Planne and coordinate joint communication activities with partners, including multimedia production and events, in coordination with the CO Programme, Fundraising and Partnerships teams, external communication agencies, media and communication/marketing teams of UNICEF’s partners
  • Create and execute communication plans for campaigns and events
  • Coordinate outreach activities with children, adolescents, youth, schools, media partners, implementing partners, corporate partners, donors, other partner organizations and institutions
  • Coordinate logistic and administrative arrangements for planned activities and events
  • Disseminate information and communication materials to target audiences
  • Prepare background information, communication and other promotional and advocacy materials, including press releases, articles, photographs and audiovisual materials
  • Maintain and update documentation for publications, press releases, press clippings, photographic and audiovisual materials
  • Track, maintain and update records on KPIs that inform the implementation of activities
  • Coordinate external partners in delivering KPIs and reports, including regular reports from communication service providers and outsourced agencies
  • Assist in daily communications from the office, and on all official UNICEF channels
  • Answer media, public queries and donor requests regarding UNICEF programme and activities
  • Support digital marketing campaigns, digital colaborations and relationships with UNICEF ambassadors, supporters and influencers
  • Support internal communication, preparing monthly newsletter
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverag. Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
