Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAis a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Our goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough highquality food to lead active, healthy lives.

FAO SubRegional Office for Central Asia (SEis responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing strategies for addressing food security, agriculture and rural development priorities in the subregion, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The Organization’s technical assistance includes institution building, development of knowledge and competencies, and exchange of experience among countries facing the challenges of transition.

FAO is implementing a project “Sustainable beekeeping and exchange of cooperation between Türkiye and Ukraine” which aims to improve coordination and information flow among the stakeholders in the beekeeping sectors of Türkiye and Ukraine and enhance capacity of apicultural educators.

Reporting Lines

Under overall supervision of the FAO Subregional Coordinator for Central Asia and the Lead Technical Officer (LT, direct supervision of International Livestock Specialist (SEand in close collaboration with national consultants and in liaison with SEC Field Programme Unit (FP/ Programme Implementation Unit (PI, the incumbent will contribute to implementation of the FTPP project GCP/SEC/026/TUR.

Technical Focus

IT innovations (digitalizatioin beekeeping and pollination with emphasis on development of spatial information exchange systems.

Tasks and responsibilities

•    Based on the lessons learned from implementation of existing spatial information exchange systems in both countries, develop specific recommendations for enhancing and implementing such systems in two pilot regions in Türkiye and Ukraine;
•    Draft a roadmap for development, expansion and improvement of existing spatial information exchange systems in both countries and create a permanent technical working group of experts and the system users;
•    Contribute to a twoday experience exchange event for technical experts, who participated in development of existing spatial information exchange systems as well as the users (beekeepers and plant producer;
•    Contribute to a threeday experience exchange event (with simultaneous interpretation in English/Turkish/Ukrainian languagefor beekeeping educators from colleges, trade schools, universities as well as advisory/extension services from both countries and international experts;
•    Contribute to development of a localized trilingual (English/Turkish/Ukrainiaglossary of beekeeping terminology.

Minimum Requirements

•    University degree in IT, GIS, animal production, beekeeping, economics, natural sciences, plant production, or other related fields
•    At least five years of relevant experience with development of digital tools for beekeeping or pollination services
•    Working knowledge of English (level
