Presentation of the Division

The Division for Strategy, Planning and Knowledge is expected to plan the implementation of the strategic initiatives and build the capacity to exercise foresight; anticipate emerging trends, opportunities, and risks; and manage change.

The knowledge management section plays a critical role in ensuring the retention, transfer, and dissemination of organizational knowledge. It contributes to develop collaborative knowledge management platforms and to provide expert analysis and advice on trade knowledge management activities.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision of the Chief of Section, and in close collaboration with colleagues in the Section, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

Key Responsibilities:

Participate in the WTO Knowledge Retention and Transfer Handover (KRTinitiative: Create and share traderelated knowledge including institutional memory, ensuring it is accurately preserved, kept uptodate and accessible. Work with teams across the Secretariat to identify knowledge gaps and drive content creation projects. Develop engaging articles, blogs, videos, and multimedia content to disseminate knowledge effectively. Manage the capture and distribution of trade policy knowledge across the Secretariat. Organize both internal and external knowledgesharing events. Conduct KM research, analyze data, and present findings with impactful visuals. Track and analyze KM content performance, adjusting strategies as needed. Support monitoring, planning, and reporting using resultsbased management techniques.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

An advanced university degree in knowledge management, information management, economics or law.

Knowledge and Skills:

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in developing knowledge content using knowledge management platforms and others collaborative tools. Experience with content management systems and other relevant technology tools such as Sharepoint or WordPress is required. Experience in designing and implementing knowledge capture techniques, ideally on trade related issues.
  • Experience with KM recording techniques.
  • Proven ability to edit, disseminate content and knowledge management systems to share knowledge content to relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy and consistency across all content.
  • Project management skills and any related certification, such as Prince2 or any equivalences, would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with resultsbased management techniques and logical frameworks to report on performance metrics.

Work Experience:

Two years of experience in content creation, research, publications, and knowledge dissemination.

Experience in working on trade or trade policy related issues is mandatory.

Languages:

Working knowledge of English is mandatory including the ability to write clearly and succinctly. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish would be an advantage.

The initial fixedterm contract for positions up to grade 10 shall normally be two years, which shall be probationary, as per Administrative Memorandum No. 997 (OFFICE(23)/4) on Probation Policy. For Director positions, the Policy on evaluation of directors apply as per Administrative Memorandum No. 978 (OFFICE(17)/29).

The WTO may use various communication technologies such as video or teleconference for the assessment and evaluation of candidates. The recruitment process may also involve the use of various forms of testing, assessment centres, interviews and reference checks.
