The main purpose of this position is to work closely with community’s/school pupils to promote good Hygiene practices and construction of WASH facilities at community and school level and to reduce the risk of communicable diseases related to water and sanitation by promoting good hygiene practice in communities and conducting hygiene awareness sessions and capacity building of communities on good hygiene practices.

Generic responsibilities

Specific responsibilities
- Responsible to carry out community and school level assessments related to water supply and sanitation hygiene’s condition.
- Develop hygiene training materials and prepare methodology and agenda for the implementation in hygiene awareness sessions
- Conduct schools and community level hygiene practices sessions and training’s.
- Prepare/ contribute to technical assessments related to WASH (Latrine, bore wells, handwashing facilities etc.).
- Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects
- Monitor WASH activities regularly and within the agreed time frame
- Responsible for raising purchase request (PR, and distribution of hygiene materials
- Work under the direct supervision of WASH officer/Coordinator to conduct hygiene promotion trainings, awareness sessions and community mobilizations.
- Actively Participate in conduction of KAP1 and KAP2 surveys as result analysis.
- Monitor the WASH activities and the impact of the sensitizing sessions by KAP1 and KAP2 surveys,
- Organize and deliver the hygiene promotion sessions for target populations (Community and Schoo
- Contribute to implement Cleaning campaigns (including community mobilization, community sessions, housetohouse visits,) from planning, to implementation and monitoring
- Monitor proper hygiene practice among beneficiary and motivate them if required
- Distribute the hygiene kits to the targeted beneficiaries and keeping documents of distribution
- Carry out children hygiene promotion activities in schools.
- Assist the WASH Coordinator on supervision of water and sanitation and other construction activities
- Produce reports regularly as per the project requirement
- Contribute to any other HP activity implementation
- Ensure the inclusion of cashbased interventions and marked based programmes in country and areabased strategies and their implementation across and within NRC’s core competencies
- Provide an enabling environment for the implementation of cashbased interventions, including multipurpose cash assistance, emergency cash responses
- Any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Generic professional competencies:
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering , Water supply Engineering and other related field.
- 2 years’ experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context with INGOs or NGOs with implementing international projects.
- WASH related experience, especially Water supply related experience.
- Strong understanding of humanitarian response architecture, particularly in terms of emergency response and humanitarian WASH
- Ability to write detailed report work in English
- Knowledge of human rights and protection with a focus on vulnerable individuals
- Knowledge and experience within a relevant administration, WASH or technical field and
- Ideally a relevant community mobilization qualification
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge of cashbased interventions and marketbased programmes.
- Good understanding of risks, stakeholders and dynamics relevant to humanitarian Wash of vulnerable displaced persons in Afghanistan
- Demonstrated experience in conducting rapid emergency assessments in projects.
- Experience in working in insecure/conflict environments.
- Manage time effectively, prioritizing tasks and able to work to deadlines.
- Good cultural, social, political and security knowledge of the area.
- Proven communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with strong experience.
- Working knowledge of English language and good comprehension of contextual languages.
