Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Office of the Director (Oin the Division for Inclusive Social Development (DIS, Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DES. The Senior Programme Management Officer reports to the Director of the Division. The Division seeks to strengthen international cooperation for achieving social inclusion and the reduction of the gap of inequalities, by fostering effective policy impact and intensified global dialogue on social development issues. Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Senior Programme Management Officer will be responsible for the following duties: • Takes the lead to develop, implement and evaluate programmes/projects relating to the preparation of the Second World Summit for Social Development (Summi; directs subordinates in Summitrelated programme/project development, implementation, monitoring and assessment; directs review of relevant documents and reports; identifies priorities, problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and initiates followup actions. • Advances the preparatory work of the Summit by providing direct substantive and technical support and coordinating contributions among Branches, Divisions and agencies. • Supports the logistics and host country arrangements related to the Summit. • Coordinates and oversees the organization of and preparation of inputs by the InterDepartmental Task Force. • Works with Branch Chiefs to coordinate the Division’s support to the UnderSecretaryGeneral (USas the head of the Summit secretariat. • Supports the Director and USG in liaising with the Executive Office of the SecretaryGeneral on arrangements for the Summit. • Contributes to policy development; reviews the assessments of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or research activities and studies related to the Summit. • Supports preparation of various written outputs, e.g. background papers, analysis, substantial sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications related to the Summit. • Coordinates substantive support to Summit consultative and other meetings including proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations. • Contributes to outreach activities for the Summit. • Serves as an effective spokesperson and establishes collaboration and partnerships with key officials at all levels inside and outside the organization. • Ensures effective utilization, supervision and development of staff; Guides, evaluates and mentors staff. • Leads team members efforts to collect and analyze data and provides insight to identify trends or patterns for datadriven planning, decisionmaking, presentation and reporting. Ensures that everyone can discover, access, integrate and share the data they need. • May perform other duties as required.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degrein business administration, management, economics, sociology or a related field is required. A firstlevel university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and nondegree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage.

Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area, is required. Experience with policymaking processes and intergovernmental negotiations in the United Nations or in an international organization is required. Supervisory experience, including ability to organize and lead a diverse team, is required. Experience in organizing global conferences and summits is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this vacancy, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
