IFC is looking to recruit an E T Consultant – Country Operations for Türkiye.  This position is based in Ankara and will report to the Senior Country Officer (SCO) for Türkiye.
The E T Consultant — Country Operations will support the Regional Director for Central Asia and Türkiye (RD) and Senior Country Officer for Türkiye (country management) in strengthening and deepening the IFC relationship with IBRD, key government counterparts and development partners based in Ankara.
Roles and Responsibilities
•  Support the country management in developing and maintaining the IFC relationship with the government of Türkiye, both at the working and ministerial levels, and represent the IFC at relevant government, multilateral, and business functions in Ankara
•  Build and maintain strong relationships with the host government and multilateral partners in Ankara to further develop opportunities with high development impact in Türkiye
•  Support the country management in deepening IFC’s relationship with key IBRD counterparts in Ankara
•  Maintain good working knowledge of current IFC investment, advisory, and upstream operations in Türkiye and support the SCO with queries from HQ management
•  Regularly monitor policy and regulatory reform developments in sectors of importance for IFC and update relevant IFC teams
•  In collaboration with IBRD, support IFC investment teams in navigating relevant regulatory approval processes for specific transactions
•  Support the country management in preparing various missions and briefings for IFC senior management’s engagement with Turkish government counterparts
•  Foster strong relationships with IBRD to identify further opportunities for operational and knowledge transfer and collaboration among the WBG institutions to benefit the clients
•  Coordinate visiting missions to Ankara by participating in meetings with government agencies and maintaining records of meetings and other correspondence with the government in coordination with country management
•  Perform other tasks as reasonably requested by the country management

 

Selection Criteria

 

Advertisement
•  Master’s degree in a related field and at least 8 years of relevant experience. Related fields of education include business, finance, or economics or an area of expertise specific to a sector, subject matter, or industry specialty
•  Extensive knowledge and experience in working with Turkish government representatives
•  Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Türkiye, including politics, history, social dynamics, culture, economics, local markets, and regulatory framework
•  Broad knowledge of sectors and industries within Türkiye, including their viability for market growth, market challenges, and how sector dynamics may evolve within a country or group of countries
•  Ability to identify opportunities for collaboration on high-value engagements with government and development partners based on a good understanding of WBG, IFC (investment and advisory), and WBG products and project requirements
•  Ability to support collaborative efforts with WBG organizations to leverage their products and instruments in close coordination with country management and Regional and Country Economics units
•  Strong understanding of Türkiye’s policy-making process
•  Ability to read and anticipate regulatory and market trend shifts and their implications for IFC’s current and future business
•  Prior experience in working with IBRD or IFC would be considered an advantage
•  Strong written and verbal communication skills in Turkish and English
•  Excellent people management skills and openness to feedback and new ideas
