JOB DESCRIPTION

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking a dynamic & multi skilled candidate to join its Headquarters in Battaramulla, Sri Lanka, as an Assistant Finance Officer.

The Assistant Finance Officer will be responsible for providing accurate and timely support to the delivery of day-to-day accounting functions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform MIRO (Receive and Invoice Verification) in the SAP system to create liabilities for supplier invoices.
  • Arrange journal vouchers for manual expense claims.
  • Post fund transfer vouchers to the system.
  • Initiate and process online payments ensuring the timely and secure transfer of funds to designated recipients.
  • Arrange cheque payments to suppliers in Sri Lankan Rupee.
  • Support to prepare local and foreign bank reconciliation statements.
  • Arrange journal vouchers for staff medical insurance claims.
  • Arrange the medical insurance reimbursement of the HQ base staff through online transfers.
  • Prepare and upload monthly journal vouchers to SAP (house rent, staff transport, school fees, etc.).
  • Assist in the preparation of cash flow statements using Headquarters cash outflow information.
  • Arrange journal vouchers for air ticket refunds and enter the related receipt details into SAP.
  • Assist in tallying repatriation provisions by tallying sub-provisions (travel, relocation, sea, and air freight provisions).
  • Assist in the preparation of supporting information for the annual audit.
  • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Essential,

  • Bachelor’s degree or recognized Higher National Diploma in accountancy, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Part-professional qualification obtained from one of the following institutes,
    • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL)
    • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
    • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
  • Minimum of 01 year of relevant experience in a high-volume environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in SAP ERP and the Microsoft Office package, particularly in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze and reconcile figures.
  • Excellent oral and written language skills in English, including effective listening and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong teamwork and coordination skills for collaborating with other departments.
  • Capability to effectively manage and prioritize a diverse workload while meeting deadlines.

This is a nationally recruited position and only Sri Lankan nationals will be considered. The duration of the contract will initially be for a period of three years with the possibility of extension.
