Under the direct supervision of the Programme Associate, Cluster Coordinator or Field Coordinator (depending on the district), the Monitoring Assistant (MAs) will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Providing technical support to WFP programmes – Home Grown School Feeding programme, Nutrition (Supplementary Feeding Programme), Emergency, Resilience building programme to ensure that WFP recommended technical standards are adhered to.
  • Visiting an agreed target of field sites per month on Mondays through Thursdays each week conducting process monitoring on various WFP programmes using tools provided.
  • Supporting WFP cooperating partners and district councils on beneficiary targeting using different approaches i.e. Unified beneficiary registry (UBR) and Joint Emergency Food Assisted Programme (JEFAP) to ensure that food assistance reaches the most vulnerable communities and households.
  • Supporting food distribution processes i.e. distribution planning, food management at distribution points (FDPs), FDP set-up to ensure good crowd control, food management and food distribution reports.
  • Following-up on complaints and feedback from the community received through various channels such as help desks, suggestion boxes, toll free phone numbers and any other to ensure good case management and successful closure of cases in the system.
  • Supporting implementation of technical activities, making reference to Field Level Agreements (FLAs), Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) budgeted by the partners including providing guidance on technical and financial reporting.
  • Representing WFP at district level (technical groups e.g. DEC, DNCC, DAECC, DRMCs etc.
  • Developing monthly monitoring schedules and producing a weekly report of all data collected/sites monitored on every Thursday of the month. The weekly report will indicate the sites visited, key observations made, any concerns encountered, as well as lessons learned.
  • Assisting with the implementation of the plan of action, reviewing achievements and constraints as well as providing feedback accordingly and in a timely manner to Programme Associate (where applicable), Cluster Coordination, and Head of Field Coordination, and/or M&E Unit.

Applicants are expected to be proactive, independent, and willing to work on short term contracts during emergencies. They are further expected to develop strong relationships with WFP’s M&E Team as well as technical leads to enhance their skills and ability to provide on-the-ground insights vis-à-vis WFP’s activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.

Experience: 4 Years related job experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Has experience collecting program output and outcome data, conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, and reporting findings to management team, partners, and other stakeholders.

• Has experience utilizing WFP monitoring and evaluation systems and standards.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.
