This position works in partnership and through the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO) for Jordan. The UNRCO aims to maximise, in a coordinated fashion, the work of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT). The UNCT in Jordan is comprised of 29 UN entities, of which 19 are resident and 10 without physical presence. The 19 resident Agencies, Funds, and Programmes are FAO, ILO, IOM, OCHA, UNDP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UN-Habitat, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNIDO, UNODC, UNOPS, UNRWA, UN Women, WFP, WHO, UNDSS and the UNV. Ten agencies do not have a physical presence in the country, namely ESCWA, UNEP, UNDRR, IFAD, OHCHR (with SHRA in RCO), UNIC, ITU, ITC, UNCTAD, UNICRI.
In 2024, the UN Resident Coordinator, the World Bank Representative, and the USAID Mission Director, in close coordination with the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, revitalized development coordination in the country through the establishment of the Development Partners’ Group. Composed of the key bilateral and multilateral donors, the Development Partners’ Group aims at strengthening synergies, reducing overlaps, and identifying further opportunities among international partners for coordinated and joint efforts in support of the Government of Jordan’s development priorities. While these efforts are ongoing, consolidated information on development coordination in the country is missing. Information Management (IM) support is needed to ensure such information is collected, processed, analysed and made available to international partners in an easy-to-understand way to inform related decision-making.
The position is located in the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO) for Jordan. The UNRCO aims to maximize, in a coordinated fashion, the work of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) so that the system can provide a collective, coherent and integrated response to national priorities and needs, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other national and international commitments.
Under the overall direction and guidance of the Head of Office, UNRCO, the IM Specialist will be responsible for ensuring IM processes effectively contribute to a well-coordinated, strategic, adequate, coherent, and effective development cooperation among stakeholders in the Development Partners’ Group and other related fora.
