Are you interested in working as a 3D Designer in superconducting model magnets?
The MSC-SMT section is responsible for advancing high-field magnet technologies for future accelerators. This requires the use of superconducting materials, whose unique electrical and mechanical properties present significant manufacturing challenges, demanding innovative materials, processes, and tools. As a 3D Designer, you will be part of a team currently focused on designing, developing, validating new concepts, procedures, and tools to produce small-scale models of CERN’s next-generation superconducting magnets – how exciting is that?
Your work will involve tasks such as coil winding, high-temperature heat treatment in controlled gas atmospheres, vacuum impregnation, electrical connections and instrumentation, and the mechanical assembly of delicate components.
In this role, you will collaborate on the design of magnet components and specialized tooling. Proficiency in CATIA (or a similar 3D design software) is essential.

What we offer
About us
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter – fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
Diversity has been an integral part of CERN’s mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to our success.
