We are recruiting a Knowledge Management Officer , for an initial period of 1 year including a 3 month probation period. The assigned location will be Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Knowledge Management Officer at the P2 level shall work closely with other divisions within DPAPS to foster a strong knowledge and information-sharing culture, as well as a data management culture. The Knowledge Management Officer will report to the Head of the PSC Secretariat
African Union
The African Union (AU), established in 2002 as a unique Pan African continental body, is charged with spearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, solidarity, cohesion, and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and African States as well as fostering international cooperation. Its Headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Specific Responsibilities
- Knowledge Management and Organizational Learning
- Compile and document the day-to-day activities of the PSC.
- Update and maintain the content (quality control) of the PAPS Digital Repository on a day-to-day basis and ensure it is accessible to all the stakeholders.
- Provide training and guidance to staff, members of the PSC and other stakeholders to facilitate ease of access, retrieval and sharing of knowledge/information.
- Support the PSC Secretariat in document management processes while ensuring accuracy and adherence to minimum standards while preparing documents for sharing through the Repository.
- Contribute to the development of learning and Knowledge Management policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure minimum standards and implementation across all the working documents.
- Information Management and Data Analytics
- Develop comprehensive and systematic data-capturing tools for the activities of the PSC.
- Facilitate quality control, verification and clean-up of data captured in the Repository and the Data Dashboard.
- Perform needs assessment on areas of data, information, and knowledge availability as per report or data product request in DPAPS.
- Create knowledge maps or diagrams that visually depict how different pieces of information are related to one another.
- Generate various informational data products for departmental reports, publications and presentations.
- Find creative ways to generate, publish and disseminate research results, recognizing that it is critical to ensure this data is accessible and reaching a broad stakeholder base.
- Publication and Reporting
- Format working documents in a standard style.
- Compile quarterly reports on the activities of the PSC.
- Support in the compilation of the annual report on the activities of the PSC.
- Regularly provide info-graphics and data products on various thematic areas.
- Design, layout and publish PSC-related publications such as books, booklets, reports, newsletters, and audio-visual materials, among others.
- Resource Centre
- Coordinate the activities of the Resource Centre of DPAPS.
- Cataloging, classification, indexing and organizing of information products.
- Photography and videography during events of the PSC.
- Perform other Knowledge Management-related duties.

Required Skills and Experience
- Education
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Library Science, Information Systems, or other related disciplines with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience. Master’s degree in related field will be an added advantage.
- Work Experience
- Deep knowledge of Knowledge/information/data management.
- Experience in digitization and document archival system.
- Knowledge and experience in digitization and Data software such as DSpace, Excel, Microsoft PowerBI and Microsoft SharePoint is required.
- Knowledge and experience with Adobe tools for publication, photography and video editing is required.
- Knowledge of the PSC working methods is desirable.
- Experience working in an International and/or Governmental institution is an advantage.
- Experience in capacity building, manual writing, and training is an advantage.
- Language Requirement
- Proficiency in the mission language English. Knowledge of other AU working languages would be an added advantage (Arabic, French, Spanish or Portuguese).
Remuneration
The salary attached to the position is set at P2, Step 5 inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff.
