Description of the Assignment:
The consultant will work under the Development Research Institute (DRI), MPI, and closely with the Strategic Foresight Expert and UNDP’s Inclusive Growth Unit.
The AI expert will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. AI Model Development,Deployment and Evaluation:
· Conduct a review of existing AI models and tools relevant to strategic foresight, assessing their strengths and weaknesses for the context of development planning.
· Collaborate with the Strategic Foresight expert to ensure the AI models and tools created are aligned with strategic foresight methodologies and the overall objectives of the national development plan.Identify and gather relevant datasets from diverse sources, including economic, social, and environmental data.
· Aim is to manage resource capabilities so as to tackle the various economic, social, and environmental data
· Develop AI models capable of trend analysis, scenario planning, and predictive analytics.
· Utilize machine learning algorithms to detect signals, scan horizons, identify patterns, analyze correlations, to generate potential future scenarios.
· Create AI-driven simulations and scenarios to explore potential futures, test policy options, and evaluate their implications for national development.
· Explore and integrate advanced AI techniques, such as deep learning or reinforcement learning where appropriate, to enhance predictive accuracy and scenario generation capabilities.
· Analyze the impact of various scenarios on key development indicators.
· Establish a monitoring and evaluation framework to track the performance of the AI models overtime and identify areas for improvement.
· Participate in meetings and actively engage with stakeholders to ensure that AI outputs are relevant and impactful and integrate AI outputs into foresight activities.
2. Reporting and Visualization:
· Develop comprehensive reports and visualizations to communicate AI-driven outputs to stakeholders of different levels of AI literacy
· Present findings and recommendations to decision-makers in an accessible and actionable manner.
3. Capacity Building:
· Develop training materials and guideline and provide training and knowledge transfer to relevant government staff on the use of AI for strategic foresight and scenario planning. Tailor training into different levels of AI literacy and learning styles to maximize engagement and knowledge absorbtion of government staff at central and provincial level.
· Develop a monitoring and evaluation plan to assess the impact of capacity building activities, staff experience and changing requirements, and make adjustment the training as needed.
· Develop a knowledge repository of resources including case studies and best practices of AI that government staff can access and integrate into strategic planning processes.
·Provide ongoing mentorship and support to the government counterpart on a regular basis to ensure the successful implementation and AI tools and methodologies.
Period of assignment/services: 74 working days
