He/She will develop activities of video production and editing for the documentation of events and projects related to UN-Habitat activities. The Consultant will work in close collaboration with the operational, communication and technical team of UN-Habitat Office in Brazil.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background The main mandate of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is to promote sustainable development of human settlements and policies conducive to adequate housing for all. Within this framework, UN-Habitat supports central and state governments, as well as local authorities and other partners for the implementation of the Habitat Agenda, the 2030 Agenda with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda. UN-Habitat helps the urban poor by transforming cities into safer, more inclusive, compact, integrated, resilient and connected places with better opportunities where everyone can live with dignity. It works with organizations at every level, including all spheres of government, civil society and the private sector to help build, manage, plan and finance sustainable urban development. The Regional Office for Latin American and the Caribbean – ROLAC – is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Agency puts emphasis on developing and managing activities in the host country. Indeed, for the past years, UN-Habitat has expanded its portfolio in Brazil by working with the three tiers of government to support the formulation and implementation of more effective, sustainable, participative and socially fairer urban economic, social and environmental policies. In order to support the implementation of projects on the Brazil portfolio, we are looking for a Video Maker to ensure a good recording of events and to work with the scripting and editing of videos publicizing projects’ initiatives. Report to UN-Habitat Manager The Consultant (Video Maker) reports to Head of Brazil Office and OiC for Southern Cone Office, who will evaluate him/her. Outputs/Work Assignment The Consultant will deliver the following products: Product 1: Institutional video for SDG Challenge • One (1) institutional video of approximately 2 min, presenting an in-person exhibition. • Quality 4k. • Script to be submitted and approved by Communication and Technical project teams. • Participate in meetings to discuss and approve the script. Expected delivery date: 14 days after signature of contract Product 2: Videos for three methodologies implemented in São Paulo • Three (3) videos of approximately 4 min, highlighting three methodologies implemented in São Paulo: city-wide public space assessment, trainings and the participatory process of site-specific public space assessments, and park management plans. • Quality 4k. • Scripts to be provided by Communication project team. • Two (2) additional versions for each video containing English and Spanish subtitles. Expected delivery date: 21 days after signature of contract Product 3: Video for SDG Challenge • One (1) video of approximately 2 min about the event and the Project, containing at least five (5) interviews with participants. • Up to five (5) videos of approximately 1.5 min in vertical format designed for Instagram Reels. • Scripts to be submitted and approved by Communication and Technical project teams. Expected delivery date: 30 days after signature of contract Product 4: Institutional Video for Inclusive and Sustainable Rio Project • One (1) video of approximately 3 min. • Quality 4k. • Script to be submitted and approved by Communication and Technical project teams. • Participate in meetings to discuss and approve the script. Expected delivery date: 45 days after the signature of contract Product 5: City-Wide Public Space Assessment’s Dimensions Reels • Seven (7) videos of approximately 1.5 min in vertical format designed for Instagram Reels regarding the seven dimensions of the City-Wide Public Space Assessment methodology. • Quality 4k. • Scripts to be provided by Communication project team Expected delivery date: 60 days after the signature of contract Product 6: Institutional Video for UN-Habitat Brazil • One (1) video of approximately 3 min. • Quality 4k. • Script to be provided by Communication project team. Expected delivery date: 90 days after the signature of contract Product 7: Methodologies and capacity building videos • Three (3) videos of approximately 2 min, highlights participatory workshops in São Paulo. • Quality 4k. • Script to be provided by Communication project team. Expected delivery date: 120 days after the signature of contract Product 8: Instagram Reels • Up to ten (10) videos of approximately 1.5 min in vertical format designed for Instagram Reels. • Quality 4k. • Script to be provided by Communication project team. Expected delivery date: 150 days after the signature of contract Product 9: Institutional videos for Inclusive and Sustainable Rio Project • Up to four (4) videos of approximately 1.5 min in vertical format designed for Instagram Reels. • Quality 4k. • Script to be provided by Communication project team. Expected delivery date: 180 days after the signature of contract Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the Head of Brazil Office and OiC for Southern Cone Office, the Consultant (Video Maker) will: a) Video production, editing and subtitling. b) Vectorization of images, formatting photos in Photoshop for web stories, speeches and other webpages. c) Maintain a shared and organized archive of all the multimedia produced. d) All Software licenses for editing images must be the property of the Video Maker, as well as it is their (his/her) responsibility to bring all audiovisual equipment, if needed, to perform the described activities (cameras, lenses, flashes, microphones, batteries, tripods, connectors, and cables) – excluding UN-Habitat of any liability for damage or cost related to it. e) The Video Maker will obtain the relevant written consent for video usage from concerned people/authorities. Video and photographs subject release forms signed by parents or legal guardians of children under the age of 18 will be delivered to UN-Habitat Office together with the images. f) Be responsible for travel needed for the project development, when possible. The Consultant will be responsible for completing all courses and training activities that are indicated to him/her by his/her supervisor. The security course BSAFE is required to be accredited during the first month of employment. The Consultant will be responsible for his/her own security, so the person should get familiarized with United Nations security mechanisms and comply with them according to the Framework of Accountability for the United Nations Security Management System.
Qualifications/special skills
Academic Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Film Studies or related fields. Experience: ● A minimum of three (3) years of experience in video editing, production and photography is required, with portfolio provided upon request; (Time of experience as self-employed, interns, and part-time count as 50%. Non-relevant experience for the position is not counted). ● Experience with workshops and public events documentation is highly desirable. ● Knowledge of local context is highly desirable. Skills: ● Proficiency in the use of software such as Adobe Premiere or equivalent and Adobe Photoshop is required. ● Good computer skills in Windows, as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Web search engines is required. ● Good understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) and its different dynamics and characteristics for adequate application of graphic design products is required. ● Experience related to the UN and/or any other international agency is an asset. Knowledge Management → The person must know the processes, procedures and norms of UN-Habitat, in order to guarantee an adequate quality of the activities described above, following the standards of the organization. → The person will propose formats and procedures that allow the efficient implementation of the activities related to the project development. → The person must know the files of the Office, work with it and ensure its proper maintenance, accessibility for all staff and due updating. → The person will prepare databases related to running the project. → The person will make sure that all relevant technical information will be adequately shared with the correspondent staff. → The person will ensure that all produced material will be fit-for-purpose and delivered, in an organized way, for posterior consultation and use of the Agency. Competencies Professionalism: Experience working in an inter-institutional environment, project management, monitoring-evaluation; approaches and strategies regarding good urban governance and local and regional development. Planning and organization: Professional approach to work, strong sense of responsibility, operate with minimal supervision; proven organizational skills and ability to manage a workload efficiently and within set deadlines. Communication: Ability to write clearly and effectively; listen to others, interpret messages correctly and respond appropriately; show openness in information sharing and keep everyone informed; solid abstract reasoning skills together with a proven capacity to write documents for diverse audiences. Teamwork: Ability to work with teams, demonstrate leadership, conflict management and consensus facilitation skills; ability to work in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment, and to respect diversity; sensitivity to the main streaming of vulnerability; willingness and ability to work in difficult environments.
Languages
• Fluency in Portuguese is required. • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and Spanish is the working language of the Regional Office. Good command in oral and written Spanish and English will be considered as an added advantage.
Additional Information
Travel details The consultant must be available to travel to the places related to the activities in the country, if requested by the Head of Brazil Office and OiC for Southern Cone Office. Travels will be coordinated and finances by UN-Habitat, according to the United Nations travel rules and guidelines. Remuneration SB 3-2 (UNDP Brazil Salary Scale, 100%) The consultant will receive a total amount of BRL 33.225,30, to be paid in nine (9) installments, upon the presentation and approval by supervisor of the following products: • Payment 1 (5%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 1 (BRL 1.661,27). • Payment 2 (17%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 2 (BRL 5.537,55). • Payment 3 (18%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 3 (BRL 6.107,13). • Payment 4 (5%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 4 (BRL 1.661,27). • Payment 5 (12%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 5 (BRL 3.871,00). • Payment 6 (5%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 6 (BRL 1.661,27). • Payment 7 (15%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 7 (BRL 4.983,81). • Payment 8 (17%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 8 (BRL 5.530,00). • Payment 9 (7%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 9 (BRL 2.212,00).
