We are recruiting a Senior Recruitment Project Officer, for an initial period of 1 year including a 3 month probation period. The assigned location will be Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Senior Recruitment Projects Officer at the P3 level plays a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of recruitment processes within the African Union. The officer ensures an acceleration of priority recruitment projects. This position focuses on supporting recruitment projects, providing technical support in optimizing talent acquisition strategies, and ensuring that recruitment practices align with the AU’s strategic goals. The officer will collaborate with various AU entities to develop and advice on innovative recruitment initiatives, towards a diverse and competent workforce.

The African Union (AU), established in 2002 as a unique Pan African continental body, is charged with spearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, solidarity, cohesion, and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and African States as well as fostering international cooperation. Its Headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

As the Senior Recruitment Project Officer, you will take on the following responsibilities:

Support for Recruitment Project Management

  • Design recruitment projects with timelines, frameworks, and resource estimates.
  • Advise on project progress tracking and streamline processes.
  • Provide tools and frameworks to enhance recruitment campaigns and candidate experience.

Advisory on Talent Acquisition Strategies

  • Analyse and refine recruitment strategies to attract diverse, high-quality candidates.
  • Identify and optimize process gaps in recruitment workflows.
  • Share best practices and integrate data-driven insights and international standards.
  • Promote AU’s employer brand through targeted outreach and engagement strategies.

Quality Assurance of Recruitment Processes

  • Establish quality assurance mechanisms for compliance and process integrity.
  • Conduct reviews of recruitment procedures and advise on improvements.
  • Implement ethical standards and compliance across recruitment operations.

Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, hiring managers, and stakeholders to assess recruitment needs.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions on recruitment best practices.
  • Provide technical advice to interview panels and assessors.

Data Management and Reporting Support

  • Monitor recruitment metrics and recommend process improvements.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on recruitment initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate recording and accessibility of recruitment data and candidate assessments.

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:

Education and Work Experience

  • A master’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A professional certification in recruitment or HR (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in recruitment and talent acquisition, preferably in a multi-national or intergovernmental organization.
  • Experience managing recruitment projects and implementing innovative talent acquisition strategies.
  • Familiarity with HR information systems and their application in recruitment processes.

Remuneration

The salary attached to the position is set at P3 Step 5 inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff.
