This position is to be filled within SCPID and will be based in Beni. The incumbent of the post will be placed under the authority of the Public Information Officer.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Public Information Assistant is responsible for the following duties: • Researching and processing information in accordance with instructions from SCPID management. • Social network analysis skills and the ability to take professional photos and videos, write scripts and edit video reports. • Participation in the editorial meeting which determines the angle of treatment of subjects and the formats to be produced; to evaluate the newspapers, the various reports and programs broadcast and to improve or change the products according to the decisions of the editorial board. • Produce analysis reports in French, at the request of the editor-in-chief or SCPID management. • Prepare and write quality texts for the website, deliver reports on time for broadcast and adapt radio production in national languages into multimedia products for the Okapi.net website. • Put online multimedia articles adapted for the MONUSCO site, including videos and pre-processed photos to illustrate articles. • Manage relations with information sources at all levels: political, military and religious authorities, civil society, UN agencies, etc. Maintain an address book and telephone numbers for all sources of information, filing and sharing contacts. • Be present at the editorial office on working days, with flexibility to adapt schedules as needed. • Be able to work shifts outside 08:30 – 17:30; Be available to travel within the sectors. • Perform other duties as required.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
Courses/training in journalism, multimedia or a related field is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years’ professional experience in journalism, communications or public information, of which 3 years are spent working as videographer and photographer are required. Demonstrated ability to develop messages in a variety of formats adapted to different social media platforms is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position advertised, fluency (oral and written) in French is required; Fluency in a Swahili language is required. Knowledge of English is an additional asset.
