JOB DESCRIPTION

Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, leaving no one behind.
FAO is a specialized agency of the UN that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. FAO’s goal is to achieve food security for all and ensure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. With 195 Members (194 countries and the European Union), FAO works in over 130 countries worldwide.
The Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is implementing the projects Pandemic Fund and “Global Health Security (GHS) Project – Asia and the Pacific Region, Recipient Country: India” with funding from the World Bank and United States Government USAID. ECTAD in India also implements components of regional projects that are led by the ECTAD Regional office in Bangkok (ECTAD RAP). The World Bank funded and USAID-funded projects aims to strengthen animal health systems through workforce strengthening to reduce the risks and impacts of emerging infectious diseases (EID), antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and bio-threats through an inclusive One Health approach. For this project, and for ECTAD’s wider work in its full programme, value chain analysis and policy/procedure to reduce disease risks is a key component that contributes to mitigating One Health problems including threats from new and emerging diseases and AMR.
The position is located in the FAO Project Office in India.
