UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The Morocco Country office (CO) works with national partners to promote the leadership and political participation of women and support the adoption of legislations, strategies and policies that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, and for the translation of Constitutional provisions into organic and ordinary laws.
In addition, the Morocco office supports the development and implementation of gender-sensitive strategies and public policies. It fosters the production and dissemination of accurate sex-disaggregated and gender-based data to strengthen the monitoring and evaluation of progress in terms of gender equality, women’s empowerment and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. Another important focus of the Office consists of improving the entrepreneurial capacities of women, with the goal to enhance their sustainable livelihoods and resilience though securing their access to, control over and use of productive resources.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of Programme Management Specialist, the Project Officer is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) portfolio, with a focus on the care economy thematic. The Project Officer works within the WEE team and in close collaboration with other CO thematic teams to ensure successful coherence and implementation of planned initiatives.
III. Key Functions and Accountabilities
1.Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies around care economy
2. Provide technical support to the implementation and management of the care economy programme
3. Provide technical assistance and capacity development support to project/programme partners
4. Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting of the programme/project
5. Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies
6. Provide technical inputs to inter-agency coordination on care economy to achieve coherence and alignment of UN Women programmes with other partners in the Morocco
7. Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts
8. The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.
