Office/Unit/Project Description
- The overall mandate of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) is to provide leadership, operational support and oversight of the security management system to enable the safest and most efficient conduct of the Programmes and activities of the United Nations System.
- Field Security Associate (FSA) will provide assistance in the implementation of the security plan and all matters relating to safety and security operations and management.
Scope of Work
- Assists in collecting, updating, and communicating information regarding the security situation in the country.
- Assists in ensuring Residential Security Measures, office safety, and security preparedness.
- Administer, maintain and test UNDSS Field Office Communications Plans and Warden Plans.
- Facilitate security clearances for staff in all UNDSS field offices and in the area of responsibility.
- Provide inputs to assist in the preparation of comprehensive Security Risk Assessments, evaluations, and surveys and advises UN Offices on security measures.
- Ensure appropriate professional liaison with host government agencies, local authorities responsible for security, law and order, counterparts in UN, and diplomatic missions and municipal/traditional leaders.
- Perform other related duties as required by FSCOs and/or other Senior Security Personnel.

- Ability to conduct accurate premises assessments on UN facilities to ensure appropriate mitigation measures are in place. Ability to design, support the implementation and test physical security systems for UNDP premises.
Min. Education requirements
- Secondary or Bachelor’s or equivalent education in Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management; Management or a relevant field is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license.
Min. years of relevant work experience
- At least six years experience for Secondary education and 3 years for Bachelor degree holder relevant experience in security, preferably in the military or police context or related field of work. Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable
Required skills
- Able to communicate in a clear and concise manner
