The ultimate results of service expected from the National Individual Contractor (ICL-5), Engineering Assistant are: Detailed and accurate specifications for engineering projects, ensuring all technical requirements are clearly outlined. Contributions to the preparation of project plans and designs, with thorough review to ensure accuracy and feasibility. Comprehensive bill of quantities for the projects, detailing all materials and resources needed. A well-defined Scope of Requirements document outlining the project’s needs and expectations. Effective coordination with contractors and suppliers, ensuring project timelines and quality standards are met. Assurance that all project activities comply with relevant safety regulations and meet quality standards. Efficient handling of logistical and administrative tasks related to the projects, aiding in smooth project execution. Regular and detailed reports on the progress of the projects, including any challenges and milestones achieved. Effective and timely liaison and interaction with colleagues and concerned internal and external parties. An interim performance evaluation is expected to be conducted at the end of the contract to ensure that the performance is being monitored appropriately.

Duties and Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the National Individual Contractors (ICL-5) will be responsible for the following duties: Assist in the development of technical specifications for engineering projects. Collaborate in the preparation and review of plans and designs. Calculation of bill of quantities and, preparation of Scope of Requirements including AutoCad drawings. Support in the management and supervision of contractors and suppliers. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. Assist in the logistical and administrative coordination of assigned projects. Monitor and report the progress of the projects under his/her supervision. Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
High School degree or equivalent diploma is required. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the execution of engineering projects and related functions, along with proficiency in AutoCAD
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in Spanish is required. Knowledge of English is desirable. NOTE: “fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.
