Organizational Setting

The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.
Technical Focus
To systematize and analyze draft laws and other regulations, in progress in the National Congress, in addition to the current state legislation, which deal with the Solidarity Economy, Associativism and Cooperativism, which impact Family Farming, contributing to the construction of proposals for innovative solutions to the main demands of civil society related to the theme.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Prepare a work plan for: a) systematization with impact analysis of legislative proposals related to Solidarity Economy, Associativism and Cooperativism that impact Family Farming and are being processed in the National Congress; b) mapping of state legislation that refers to the Solidarity Economy, Associativism and Cooperativism that impact Family Farming;
• Assist the project in meetings whenever requested or upon need to deepen specific issues related to the monitoring of regulatory proposals;
• Contribute to the construction of innovative solutions to the main demands of civil society related to the theme of cooperativism, associativism and solidarity economy;
• Prepare technical and analytical documents about the proposals for the creation and amendment of regulations related to the Solidarity Economy, Associativism and Cooperativism that impact Family Farming, to subsidize SEAB/MDA, when requested.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:
Minimum Requirements
• University Degree in Applied Social Sciences according to the CAPES/CNPq table of areas of knowledge.
• Minimum experience of 03 (three) years of experience in programs, projects or policies aimed at cooperativism and Solidarity Economy for Family Farming.
• Working knowledge (level C) of English or Spanish and Portuguese;
• National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit

Technical/Functional Skills
• Desirable experience in monitoring legislative processes, or monitoring in legal proceedings, or legal opinions.
