JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of the Finance Assistant provide financial management services by implementing NRC finance procedures and addressing day-to-day issues that arise in respect to finance functions.

Key Tasks and Assignments:

  • Ensure compliance with NRC financial policies, internal controls, and government VAT & Tax requirements.
  • Prepare and arrange for bank withdrawals when needed after getting required approvals
  • Handle petty cash and be responsible for the operation of petty cash box in the office.
  • Ensure daily posting of incurred expenditures onto the NRC accounting system
  • Carry out monthly reconciliations on all office cash and bank accounts in Cox’s Bazaar with close collaboration with the finance Coordinator.
  • Maintain a register for all incoming bills, invoices, and other money claims.
  • Assist the Finance Coordinator in the preparation of monthly financial reports and other financial reports
  • Handle advance requests after approval/authorisation from respective parties.
  • Assist in reviewing staff travel claims
  • Assist in reviewing payment support documents working closely with the Finance Coordinator
  • Reports regularly to the Finance Coordinator/Manager and identifies problem issues for solutions in the department.
  • Maintain high confidentiality of documents and information
  • Assist in routine filing as per the existing filing system

Key Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in finance or accounting.
  • Minimum one-year relevant experience in a finance role.
  • Attention to detail and follow-up with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Cultural awareness, and sensitivity.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • A flexible working style, including absolute discretion
  • Responsive, efficient, and a positive manner and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English and Bangla, knowing the Local language is preferable.
  • The Experience of working in a non-profit organization is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the refugee context in Bangladesh
  • Knowledge of the software programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Duty Station: Cox’s Bazar.
  • Travel 20%.
  • Contract duration: 12 months
